I'll go for "enlightened" arrogance. In other words, I don't mind arrogance so much if.. it's warranted.
I mean, there's this neurosurgeon I know. He's arrogant. Then again.. he operates on brains for a living. He's put in the time as far as education and experience to be a little bit arrogant.
So I'll choose enlightened or maybe a better term would be warranted arrogance over ignorance any day.
P.S. I've known arrogant people who are just ignorant. In other words their arrogance blinds them to their own ignorance if that makes any sense. [Edited 5/13/11 19:15pm]

But that's not true. The insufferable are the willfully ignorant. No matter how many times you present them with information or facts that are contrary to their beliefs, they simply ignore it. Like birthers. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

so i look at your deffinition as a perfect example of the arrogant. they are insufferable and willfully ignorant of anything not of their likin. the closin of the mind against whut is not the desirable answer. ah, contempt of 'other thoughts' and beliefs. i still choose the peace of ignorance, rather than the ignorance of arrogance. i am KING BAD!!!
you are NOT... STOP ME IF YOU HEARD THIS BEFORE...

...They both suck.
But I'd rather deal with someone that's arrogant but knows their shit than someone that's just completely and totally clueless. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day
