Fox Cancels Crime Drama ‘The Chicago Code’

“The Chicago Code” has been canceled.

The crime drama, created by Rockford native Shawn Ryan and shot locally, won’t be on the schedule when Fox unveils its fall lineup on Monday, news outlets reported early Wednesday.

“Fox suits loved the show, but have a business to run,” Ryan tweeted.

More than most series made on Chicago’s streets, “The Chicago Code” attempted to capture the culture of the city, dropping references to local history and filming in areas both prominent and obscure. Its main characters — a roguish cop (Jason Clarke), his book-smart partner (Matt Lauria), a powerful alderman (Delroy Lindo) and a reform-minded police chief (Jennifer Beals) — were ever aware of Chicago’s climate of corruption.

A Fox spokesman said the two remaining episodes will air the next two Mondays.

i remember the pain i went through when they cancelled LA Law and Melrose Place

Wouldn't be the first time FOX has axed on good shows. I still ain't got over them canceling "Married...With Children". Yes I still hold a grudge over that.

I actually thought Ed O'Neill had a nice build in the first couple seasons. That kept me watching. Beyond that, there was nothing to keep me drawn in.
