The Mavs embarassed the shit out of the Lakers...and then the Lakers embarassed themselves.
Hats off to Dallas but sorry...if you dont win it all IT DON'T MEAN SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And if the Lakers without Shaq have "no heart" then what does that say about the rest of the league...seeing as those "heartless" Lakers won the title the last two years?

They are old and were showing signs of fatigue throughout the season. They had that run after the All Star break but that was pretty much it.
As I said before...it aint easy winning three in a row.

And that I can understand. What I don't get is the way they went out today. That's not the way you respond to being outscored. I get it, they were frustrated but what were they going to do with that offense and make all those mistakes on the other side of the goal?

They knew their goose was cooked after Game 3. Kobe said what he had to, but Im sure he knew they were done too.
Desperation breeds chaos.
Same thing happened against Boston in 09. [Edited 5/8/11 19:04pm]

Not this Knick fan. To hell with Big Chief Triangle. I had enough of his act during the Bulls years.

If you want to place blame on someone, one should look at their "leader", Kobe. In certain points of the first 3 games, when it was in reach, Kobe DID NOT step up. Not only did he have a few turnovers and miss some crucial shots, he was out played by a player who is 5 years older than him! As for those asshole fouls, committed by Bynum and Odum, as a leader he should have ripped them a "new one". I remember the "head-butting" incident that occured between, Starks and Miller. Patrick Ewing and Oakley immediately, laid into Starks for committing that stupid foul. The Lakers looked uninspired and slow the entire season and in the play-offs. If Kobe does not step up as the leader next year, the same thing, will happen again. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Terry leads Mavericks’ perimeter attackDALLAS (AP)—Jason Terry(notes) made his first 3-point attempt Sunday. Then he connected again, and again, and again. Once Terry got going, the Dallas Mavericks were on their way to the conference finals. There was nothing this group of Los Angeles Lakers could do about it. “(Terry’s) shotmaking was breathtaking,” Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said. Terry made nine of Dallas’ 20 3-pointers in a 122-86 victory that completed a four-game sweep of the two-time defending champions. Fellow reserve Peja Stojakovic(notes) made all six of his 3-point attempts. Dirk Nowitzki(notes), J.J. Barea(notes), Jason Kidd(notes), DeShawn Stevenson(notes) and Brian Cardinal(notes) each hit one from long range as seemingly everyone on the Mavs got into the act. The Mavericks finished 20 for 32 from long range and shot 60 percent from the field overall. Terry tied the NBA postseason mark for 3-pointers and Dallas matched the league playoff record. “I don’t think I’ve seen a team play to that level in a series in a game like they played this afternoon,” Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. “You’d like to have an opportunity to challenge, but we didn’t.” While the Mavericks were connecting from long range, Los Angeles was drawing iron for much of the day. The Lakers shot 5 for 24 from behind the arc and 37.8 percent overall. Dallas stressed defense all season long, and it’s carried over to the playoffs “We understand that defense wins championships,” shot-blocking center Tyson Chandler(notes) said. The Mavericks will meet the winner of the Oklahoma City-Memphis series in their first trip to the Western Conference finals since 2006. The Grizzlies lead the Thunder 2-1 going into Game 4 on Monday night. “The job isn’t finished,” Terry said. “We set the bar high in training camp. This was great. I don’t want to understate the meaning of this victory. We’re back in the Western Conference finals. It’s been a while.” There were lots of smiles in the Mavericks locker room after this victory, but little celebrating. Their focus is the first NBA title in franchise history. “We’ve got eight wins, but we need eight more and that’s our ultimate goal,” Chandler said. The Mavs cruised to the second-largest margin of victory in their playoff history despite only 17 points from Nowitzki, who averaged 27.6 points in his first nine playoff games this season. Nowitzki got plenty of help from Dallas’ reserves, who combined for 86 points. In addition to Terry’s contribution, Barea had a career playoff-high 22 points and Stojakovic finished with 21. “Our bench has been one of the best in basketball,” Terry said. “Each one of these guys can start. We play as if we have something to prove. We’ve done it by committee all year. That’s what’s special and unique about our team.” Nowitzki isn’t big on celebrating, but he admitted that for one night, he’d let loose, at least when it came to dinner options. “I’m going to enjoy this for a day,” Nowitzki said. “I think I’m gonna have some pizza and cheat on my diet.”

You're always up-to-date on the latest scuttlebutt. What's this shit I'm hearing about Kobe and Pau's girlfriend, and that's why Gasol's been in a funk????? Some of the WFAN sports talkies mentioned that this morning.

Don't know if it's true yet......
UPDATE: here's what I got from another site. The rumour was that one of his teammates wives/gf's snitched to his wife about a mistress Pau had, and it apparently put a stress on the relationship between Pau and that player, also splitting the locker room. [Edited 5/9/11 11:29am]

I've been hearing that Kobe has a pregnant jumpoff and she's bringing a paternity suit. At least that was the word during All Star week. I doubt it's the same chick who supposedly broke up with Pau tho.

I was disappointed when the Laker's got swept. I thought at least they would tie with the Mavs but the bottom line is Dallas has younger and hungrier players. Am I correct in stating that Jason Kidd has never won an NBA championship? Surely he was ready to set Kobe's ass on fire! I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

Yeah, Jason is sans ring. But actually we older than a mug too. JKidd 38, Dirk 32, Peja 33, and Jason Terry 33 been playing 12 years or more. Hell, I was a fresh young thang when Jason Kidd was drafted by Dallas. Everytime I see him we play, "Remember when . . ." [Edited 5/9/11 13:34pm]

Hmmm I ued to think Peja was so foine. Jason cute too but he'd be a whole lot cuter with that championship ring.
