These days I have a renewed appreciation for Michael Jackson ballads as I bought his whole back catalogue in the last two days.

A song this dead guy composed before he was dead. The "Caccia" is basically about Clifton Williams finding out he had cancer. In the middle of it, he sort of freaks out and everything. The "Chorale" is him writing about his death.

We played this piece for concert festival when I was a freshmen. I had the heartbeat part in the Chorale, so I killed him every day for two months.

Clarinet in marching season, and bass clarinet in concert season. And my regular clarinet as well. The thing finally lost some cork Friday night during a pep band basketball game. I was livid. I didn't have any cork to fix it with. So I had to tear up a piece of paper and fold it up under there so the fucker would hold together so I could play.

Cool. I used to play alto saxophone in marching band, stage band (jazz) and concert band in high school. We toured California in 1993 and played at Disneyland. Those were excellent times.

I still play sax, but I'm mostly a guitarist/singer/songwriter these days.

I do the jazz band thing on Thursdays...The year before I made it to high school, our band won World Tournament of Bands down at Disney World in Fla. Mind you, we can't even make state finals in our own state.

Anyhow...I don't intend to do anything like study music. I'll keep playing, I'd hate to put it away and not do it after I graduate. I might even join a college band, you know.

Actually I've never played or owned a clarinet, so no. Unfortunately my saxophone was too big so there weren't any instruments up any orifices at band camp for me.
