Are you closer to your mom or your dad's side of the family?

I am much closer to my mom's side of the family-I spent more time around them growing up and sad to say, that is just who I am more comfortable around.

When I was a child I was closer to my dad's side of the family. Many members of my family died since and I have lost contact to the rest apart from my mom, my sister and her family. And I also lost contact to my ex's family who I used to be close to for many years.

My mother's side. My dad's side are nothing but worthless, shiftless drug addicts and alcoholics. Haven't talked to any of them in about 15 years.

Well, since my dad is an only child and his parents are dead... shrug

Definitely closer to my mom's side.

My dad was born in 1912, so unfortunately his parents and most of his siblings were long gone by the time I rolled around in 1972. He's got nieces and nephews, but I don't know them as I was raised in Ohio, they were raised in Tennessee, and we met only once maybe.

I can relate. My dad was born in 1915 and when I was born in 1967 his mom was still alive, but died when I still was a baby. Apart from his youngest brother who died in WW2 all his other 3 siblings were still alive when I was born but died since. From his side of the family all my cousins are way older than I am which is probably one of the reasons why we lost contact.

Mom's side. We're a very small family. Just my aunt and 2 cousins (one which isn't speaking to me at the moment lol).

I only know other distant relatives on father's side on facebook and only in the last year saw a picture of my dad (thanks to one of the folk on fb). I had only ever seen him as a child a few times in court due to not paying child support. loser sigh

EDIT:

Oh and one time he came back around knocking on the door trynna lay my mom. confused

She was like. See ya in court. wave

I don't know, I don't really see much of any of them since they all live in Sweden and I don't. The ones I keep in contact with most is my dad's cousin who has kids that are 19 and 26, and they are on facebook so it's daily news exchanging with them, and my kids get their kid's clothes!

my mom's side, definitely.

my dad's (RIP pray) side is full of weird and incoherent people (truth) and/or people who live miles away...so the there's no physical contact...just the typical phone call for Xmas lol

Ditto for me, although my dad's side of the family has a reunion every summer. I don't go to them a lot, because I don't really know that side of the family all that well. My one cousin walked right by me at last year's reunion without even saying hello to me; like I was invisible or something. rolleyes disbelief rolleyes disbelief

When I was a kid, mom's side, in my teen's, dad's side. Now I think it's a mix of both. I trust my mom's side more and they are reliable. My dad's side is more social, a fair mix of superficial and down to earth I think. Sometimes I think I act like different people with both sides.

I have a theory that most people tend to be closer to their mom's family for the most part.

same here.

slightly closer to my mom's side as the cousins on that side are closer in age to my brother and I, but get along just fine with both sides.

I don't really know my dad's side aside from a cousin or 2, and even they aren't close relatives. They never attempted to get to know me and it's a waste of time for me to even try at this point

Although I'm closer to my mom's side, I'm not really fond of them either at the moment lol

Families used to be bigger back in the day, but 15 is a lot omfg . Compared to David it's still small lol . He has nearly as many brothers and sisters from his mom's side alone and a bunch from his dad's side too falloff .
