Speaking of Idris . . . Milk and Honey

Hi Everyone,

Asha May, together with her mentor Debbie Allen, Idris Elba and Lance Gross has created an excellent TV series Milk + Honey. Idris and the Brown Paper Dolls company (Chicagoans and Howard U, FAMU & Spelman, grads Dana Gills, Asha Kamali May, and Jeanette McDuffie) have been working on this series for over 3 years. The show was created to showcase diverse images of women of color that are rarely seen on the big or small screen, and also to create more opportunities for black actors.

The "Milk + Honey" scripted series will soon be seen on all platforms and is looking to get picked up by a TV network. Still, they need 1 million views of the trailer which is posted on the website

Please check it out and forward this email along!

This looks hella interesting!! I can't imagine this'll have any problem being picked up, especially with the clout that Idris and Debbie brings to the project! but we all know how the TV business can be, ESPECIALLY for us African Americans!! If we can get something like "Love & Hip Hop" on TV these days, then Lord knows this should be greenlit IMMEDIATELY! lol

True, but that reality hot mess is still cheaper than a scripted show to produce. That's the problem. wall

But I loved seeing Debbie in a Lydia Grant-ish role. I was waiting for her to slam that big stick down and say: "You want fame? Well, fame costs. And here's where you start paying . . . in sweat." lol

You're right about the cost factor. I'd be afraid for it to go to BET just so it could get lost in the sauce, but I suppose that would be better than nothing.

That one chick in there is HELLA foine!!! The one who was told by the dude to only talk to him and he then would relay whatever message to the boss! Hurt me!

Let's hope not, as long as the real brothas and sistas are still calling the shots on the show! If not, that's when they get all Jennifer Hudson-ified and lose their natural thickness and curves. disbelief

One good thing it that Idris is providing a vechicle for more black actors to work.

I love his work, and I am glad to see him in a leadership role where he belongs... he is so fine... and talented.. and everything.... razz
