Of course I'm going to watch! I was up at 5:00am. I'm from Canada and I have roots in England, so I wouldn't miss this for anything. I love Kate's dress. Very elegant, but not over the top. They look like a very happy couple in love. I certainly hope they are.
Best of luck to them! | |

Aw hell, sounds like she wants to party!
That reminds me of the girl in "Under The Cherry Moon" that got with the band in front of all those stuffy people and started chanting....

I read that her parents are very close friends of his father.. my cousin got married last year; her hubby's mother was trying to invite everybody she knew.. Hag. Muse. Web Goddess. Taurean. Tree Hugger. Poet. Professional Nerd. Geek.

the wedding dress, and the veil (I do wonder what shoes she has on) -- and Pippa's dress
that'd be the only reason I'd want to have a ceremony (the foo-foo girly dresses).. [Edited 4/29/11 9:52am] Hag. Muse. Web Goddess. Taurean. Tree Hugger. Poet. Professional Nerd. Geek.

Wasn't actually interested in the wedding itself (that much). But I do like to see people jubilant and having a good time in the streets. There's so little of that in the news today that if it takes a royal wedding to at least get a few people happy for a minute, then so be it! I was mainly only interested in watching the guest arrivals to see what everybody wore. Sadly, I've found Germany to be rather casual in its wedding attire comapred to other EU nations, or even the US, and I miss seeing people spit shined and dressed in their Sunday best

I will look at the re-caps on T.V and via on-line. From the pictures and videos I just saw, they had a very nice wedding. They match astrologically too! She is a Capricorn and he is a Cancer; and have many compatible planetary aspects.

I have some friends in Harlem, and when I come home to visit the States love to stay with them, and pop out to the store on Sundays just so I can see the old ladies on the way to church : those sisters are dressed to the nines, do you hear me??? I just LOVE it!!!

There is still a shop on the north side of Milwaukee that sells "church hats." I try to get over there a couple times a year. Usually, I just try them on (most are very expensive), but I've bought a couple lulus. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I've already warned my German friends that for my wedding, they should not be surprised to see a stampede of American ladies in full regalia taking up the pews. We are going to represent . You'd be absolutely appalled if you saw how people dress for weddings here. They all might as well be on their way to Happy Hour at Red Lobster...on Causal Friday.

I share your pain.
I saw a comment elsewhere about how Kate's long sleeves looked matronly. I thought, "She's getting married in a church. To a prince. What part of "appropriate attire" escapes you?"
I get so tired of seeing hoochie-esque wedding dresses. Long sleeves photograph better - period. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Damn, andy! You and I have the same morning routine! I usually wake up anywhere between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM and immediately turn on the news to listen to what's happening and to get the weather report so I'll know what to pick out to wear to work. And this morning I turned it on and there it was all over the damn TV. You couldn't avoid it unless you went to the non-network channels and even some of them had the fever.
Just like the damn tornado coverage. All the networks preempted regular programing from about 5:00 PM-8:00 PM sensationalizing what turned out to be a big thunderstorm in my area. They had my ass running for cover and not a damn thing happened. It poured buckets for about 10 minutes and then that was it, but to hear them tell it, my friggin house was about to explode, "TAKE COVER! TAKE COVER! IT IS IMMINENT!

BITCH! You're gonna get my black ass fired fo sho! I damned near screamed in this friggin office! Oh, lawd help me breathe...
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
You do realize that television broadcasts aren't personalized. Right? And that tornadoes affect (usually) a very small area - while a thunderstorm may be a mile (or more) wide?
Would you prefer that they give no warning at all - and your damn house gets blown away? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
See, that's the thing about "our folk." We dress for the lawd, chile! I'm not trying to start any race issue here, people, but some "whit folks" go to church like they going to a picnic or beach or something. You go to a black church, especially a Baptist or Holiness church, and you're gonna see a show! Feathers, and boas, and sequins and do.

This is a cultural phenomenom and whomever denies has had their eyeballs pecked out by Political Correctness.
It's just as a very large percentage of mi gente have a predisposition to wear entirely- too-tight, too-revealing, often not well matched, sequined (in the daytime) tackiness.

Look, don't start no shit wit me and they won't be none, OK! Just got fuck sweetie and you be aight.
Yeah, you're right, but they were specifically naming my very, very small town. And yes, I do realize that tornados can turn on a dime. And yeah, I wanna be warned just in case.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
With tornadoes, the damage can be as narrow as a single street - or even a single house. I've seen cases where one house was badly damaged and the one right next door was untouched. And it's rare for them to stay on the ground for long.
I used to do TV weather for a living (it was my first career) and it is a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" proposition. People are pissed that you're breaking into their favorite show, pissed if they spend an hour in the basement and their houses don't blow away, and pissed if their houses do blow away and you didn't get on the air fast enough.
I'm glad I don't do it, anymore. Now I can enjoy the storms, make my own assessment of any imminent threat, and not be responsible for anyone else's safety or pissed-off-ness. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
