Yard Sales

Anyone like to go yard saleing? Since the weather has been getting warmer, there has been lots

of them. I especially like going to estate sales. Anyone else?

I used to like it. I've gotten into this de-clutter/purge thing so haven't gone in years.

Now days more interested in unique/cool items versus a cd tower for $1 lol so yeah...estate sales and I'll still do thrift shops. nod

My aunt used to do it in the '80s. She'd scour the newspaper the night before to read who was having them and what they mentioned they'd be selling. Then she would order them in terms of what was most promising and plan out a map.

When I stayed with her over the summer, she'd take me and I'd scout for toys and comic books. Those are happy memories--I can still smell her car and her cigarette smoke and hear the AM talk radio she would listen to--but I haven't been to a real yard sale in years and years.

I'm not into yardsale-ing. Because, most times, it's just total shit that people are trying to unload.

But thrift store shopping...I'm all over that.

I used to get all excited about having a yard sale (related to the whole de-clutter thing) but now I find myself feeling like people are all in my business and when they try to talk down the price I'm like "bitch no, I will give this to the needy...there!" flipped off

...that's not good business practice. redface

I don't go to yard sales, because I don't need anything. But, I will have a garage sale later this year. Just to get rid of a lot of stuff.

Nice story! It reminds me of garage saling with my grandparents as a child. Except one time, my grandpa bought the garage... He did turn it into his workshop where is still stands today...Brings back a lot of fond memories biggrin

I love estate sales for the jewelry! I don't go to yard sales much anymore. I decluttered and got rid of so much stuff last year. I like the clean, simple look in my house now.

See. That's me too. The 3-4 times I had a yard sale, I did pretty well, but then again, my prices were dirt cheap and at times I felt like I was giving stuff away. Suff like brand new $60 shoes that I'd never worn sold for $3. I guess that's why I sold practically everything; people were all over my shit like white on rice. Next time I'll know better.

All I've ever seen at them is junk. Back in the 1990s when a lot of people were getting rid of their vinyl records, I used to check out some of the yard sales but most of them had country/western records so I said "fuck that". It's the flea markets I like to check out for records.

This is why I go!! It amazes me the stuff that people pratically give away. I can buy something for nothing, put it on Ebay, and make lots of $$.

I am planning on a Yard Sale of mine own, since I have been going to storage auctions,I have some stuff that I can't sell on Ebay.

I have a friend that knows about furniture, so she goes to garage sales and buys things for 99 cents on eBay, photographs them and writes a proper descriptive blurb and resells them for 100s
