Oprah - "I have a dream of O.J. Simpson confessing to me. And I am going to make that happen, people"

Oprah Winfrey Determined to Land O.J. Simpson Confession

"I have a dream of O.J. Simpson confessing to me," said Winfrey during a Q&A at The Cable Show in Chicago.

You might think Oprah Winfrey – who recently wrapped an historic 25 years atop the daytime talk show ladder – would have snagged everyone she wanted for her couch tête-à-têtes. But no. There are two people Winfrey is still determined to land: Susan Smith andO.J. Simpson.

Appearing at NCTA’s annual Cable Show in Chicago, Winfrey said she has her sights set on Smith and Simpson forOprah’s Next Chapter, her upcoming interview show on OWN.

“I have a dream of O.J. Simpson confessing to me,” said Winfrey to voluble cheers from the crowd at Chicago’s McCormick Place convention center. “And I am going to make that happen people.”

“I don’t just want the interview,” she continued. “I want the interview on the condition that you are ready, Mr. Simpson.”

Investigation Discovery’s Paula Zahn interviewed Winfrey for Thursday’s marquee session. And Winfrey stressed that she is now fully committed to growing OWN after a rocky start that recently saw CEO Christina Norman ousted.

STORY: Oprah's OWN Networ...ter Launch

“This really is the moment I’ve been waiting for,” said Winfrey. “I have the ability to commit my full energy.”

Oprah’s Next Chapter is set to launch in January. And Winfrey noted that she has tried over the years to get both Simpson – who was acquitted of murdering his wife Nicole Brown Simpson – and Smith, who is serving a life sentence in South Carolina for murdering her two sons – on her syndicated show.

If Winfrey does land a Simpson confession (a goal she characterized as not “that lofty”), she will have succeeded where numerous others have spectacularly failed.

STORY: Discovery Communic... 2-3 Years

Former HarperCollins publisher Judith Regan reportedly secured just such a confession from Simpson for a proposed book and Fox television special. But the outcry over “If I Did It…” grew so vociferous that Fox and HarperCollins were forced to scrap the project. Regan was ousted from the News Corp. imprint later that year.

Tell me that you want to have an interview with Bigfoot, that'll be more believable than O'Dumb confessing what we already know. rolleyes

I would love to see this happen. He's as guilty as they come. A wife abuser, a thug and a double murderer. I hope he rots in jail for the rest of his life. And, I would love to see Oprah get the confession.

By the way, Oprah retired her show, not herself.

Cool.

Since we're at it, I hope she gets confessions from mass murders like George Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, or Rice too, call it "the massacre specialists" episode. Hey, she's Oprah, she's good for it, if she's gonna squeeze a confession from OJ, she should go all the way out.

First of all, it ain't gonna happen. hmph! And why are people still going around saying OJ killed those two people? If you take away your gender and race blinders for a minute and look at the scene objectively, there's literally no way OJ could have committed those murders by himself. How is he going to stab and fillet two people, leaving behind a massive pool of blood, only track a paper cut's amount of blood in his SUV, hide the murder weapon and bloody clothes and shoes someplace which no one has found to this day, drive back to his house, shower, pack his bags, and head out in a limo to LAX to catch a plane to Chicago, all in the span of 45 minutes? And remember that he's an ex-NFL superstar running back who took a beating throughout his career and had it end prematurely due to bad knee injuries. And for all those people who still don't believe the LAPD would have detectives would would plant evidence against suspects, remember that the LAPD was littered with corrupt cops going back into the 80's, who took bribes, regularly brutalized potential suspects because they lived in gang infested neighborhoods, and even worked with gangs to put hits out on their enemies, including Biggie Smalls. So having some racist cop plant evidence would have been par for the course in those days.

As for OJ being in jail now, he was basically set up on trumped up charges which if it were Joe Sixpack being accused of what he did in Vegas, would have landed him six months probation and 100 hours of community service. There wouldn't have been any kidnapping charges, and even the alleged "victims" would have been arrested and charged as well.

bored2 I love me some Oprah, but girrrrrrl you betta get to work on your dang network and leave Orenthal (sp) a-lone! Get rid of the leftovers from the Discovery Health Network that's filling up your airwaves, ditch the movies, and do somethin' with Dr. Phil all up and through.

confused O.J. ain't got time fa you.

Shoot, where you gonna interview him at? lol you don't even have a show anymore. And what happened to Oprah after the show? I loved watching that on Oxygen (back when there were less skanks and some actual feminist-type things happenin' on the network...) At least hook a lady up with some reruns of Grace Under Fire and Ellen.

razz Silly Oprah.
