We should have a gardening thread. Any Org Gardeners?
Yeah, I know, this is probably more -y than all my fashion and decor threads. Fuck it, call me Sussy Homemaker.
One of the things I was most excited about, moving into this home was the sunny side yard, in which I immediately envisioned lots and lots of veggies. I'm gonna keep a journal (of sorts) of this garden, start to end of season on my blog. We also have lots of other garden projects (landscape) lined up.
Anywhoo, here's my first entries so far:
and
In the future I might cut and paste from my blog into this thread so it appears here directly.

I'm a gardener, in name only.
I have a lot of plants though, seems that i am quite good at looking after the buggers too. I like them, they don't argue.

I'm not doing a spring show, so I am bygawd going to have some window boxes this year! We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I've really missed my herb garden the last couple summers. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

The East coast of Scotland does not like window boxes. I tried two of them two years back, nothing fancy, just some nice ivy type things, and spring flowers. I went shopping on a very windy day, when i returned, one box had dropped to the pavement (sidewalk) below and smashed, the othet box was in place, but it being so windy had stripped the flowers bare. So it was out with the boxes, and in with the houseplants.

That's something I'm not very good at. A few years ago, I had three potted plants, two peace lillies and one big pretty green plant that I can't think of the name of. Anyway, I watered them, turned them, etc. and surprisingly, they did very well. They were growing so good and got so big that they needed repotted. For fear that I would end up killing them (which I've been famous for in the past), I gave them to my sister-in-law and they are doing very well. I have fake plants now. Have no fear, go get yourself a plant or two. Once green fingered, always green fingered.......or something.

Do u mean green thumb??
We know andy's been fingered plenty, hopefully none of those fingers were green.

I've been vegatable gardening for about 3 years now. Can't wait till the new season starts here in Jersey.
My yard is not fenced in, so i get a lot of stray racoons and skunks around. I've circumvented that by growing my veggies in self-watering pots sitting atop a picnic table. Along with my penchant for mulching and composting, it's a lot of fun.

I live in the hood so I only have window boxes.... but the community gardens will be started in April.
I NEVER plant/garden before the 3rd week of April here in Massachusetts because of the threat of frost. It was a warmer winter, but I won't take the chance. So until then my contributions will only be for my indoor plants.
I have a VERY dim apartment, I am on the 1st floor so there's not much sun. so I like my lady slipper orchid, snake plants, african violets and a few palms.
I do have my eye on a christmas orchid I plan to do... and some escargo begonias. They will be shipped in late March -early April from the growers.... I hope they do well.
