I've always thought that it's because of the "promiscuity".

One of the OLDEST stereotypes about MEN (gay OR straight) is that they ALWAYS want to fuck, I mean 24/7, which is RIDICULOUS...

Many straight men "hate" gays because they feel "threatened" by them, just as many straight females feel VERY uncomfortable surrounded by "hunters", "machos", "I wish I could oral you right here right now" straight males...

the AIDS stereotype was pretty harmful too, specially in the 88-94 era...

and some people still have a very negative view about anal sex... or about travestism, which, obviously, is something that MANY gays just don't care for...

PERSONALLY, I have only issues with "queens", sorry I can't help, it's just talk to the hand I don't "hate" queens at all, I don't even dislike them, but sorry: I just can't take them seriously, I mean, I can respect their choices/lifestyle but I'll be damned if I understand it...

personally, when I think about "famous" gays, I think of him:

for example,

or

but not him:

My 2 cent...

Every minority thinks they deserve special treatment - and they do. Because they are minorities and because, often times, they don't get a chance or a voice beyond the majority. This is why we have things like courts and Checks & Balances systems.

On the other hand, in order for the treatment to be "special", doesn't it somehow have to be better or different than the norm? I really don't see any avenue in life where gay people have it "better" than anyone else.

Don't agree with homosexuality but I do agree that I am in no position to dictate to or judge anyone on their personal preferences.

These so-called Christians who want to tell people how they're going to burn in hell for not following the bible are fools. Some of them may have true Christian hearts, but they seem to be unable to comprehend that part of the bible where it describes our Lord as a forgiving and understanding God.

Funny thing is I've had several gay associates at work over the years...maybe 8 or 9 that I've been in close, direct contact with. While we never hung out outside of work, I did consider them friends. We'd go out to lunch etc, but it was always in a big group of employees-gay straight whatever. Always had fun and I never brought up my personal beliefs about their lifestyle, but as soon as they found out my three kids go to Catholic school, they were questioning me and looking at me funny. Led to some very insightful and funny conversations. To each his own.

And why do some guys prefer a dick in the ass to bouncing tits? I dunno...my wife thoroughly enjoys my dick in her ass too, so again...to each his own.

This always amuses me. rolleyes Make a judgment and then cop-out with I don't judge or in your case,"I am in no position to dictate or judge..."

You know those people would vote to keep marriage between a man and a woman only too.

[Edited 4/22/11 22:23pm]

it completely baffles me how some ppl don't see that. neutral

Gays pay the same taxes and have to follow the same laws as everybody else here, but as citizens of this nation, are they treated equally? Hell no.

even with the marriage thing aside, there's the denial of being able to visit a partner in the hospital and/or make decisions for their care if the ill one is unable to.. the denial of being able to adopt (which also hurts needy children, and keeps us paying taxes to cover their care)
~ in fucking Texas, some Repugnicans not only want to deny gay ppl the right to adopt but also deny them custody of their own biological children -- 'cause no gay person should ever be allowed to be around/raise children and make them gay, too.. rolleyes confused

gays can be fired just for being gay in many states -- how does who you sleep with in the privacy of your own home have any-fucking-thing to do with your ability to do your job? or is even the business of anyone outside your friends and family [if you're out] -? As long as you're not shtupping somebody on the boss' desk, who gives a crap? shrug

and how about the right to just live, to be alive? to not get your head bashed in while some inbred retards kill you b/c of who you love (again, your own private business that has nothing to do with them)?

and bringing the marriage thing back in -- ppl who don't believe in god/belong to a religion can get married, so how the fuck can these religious yahoos dictate on that?? Marriage isn't a religious rite (or right); it's a contract - it's always been a contract, you don't even have to be a priest/pastor/reverend/whatever person in a religious job/position to perform a ceremony to marry two ppl. It's just another way for the Church to make bank (what, 10% of everybody's salary every week isn't enough? why not?? sad ).

Marriage http://www.merriam-webste...y/marriage is defined as:

a (1) : the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law (2) : the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage <same-sex marriage>

Law. Not the allegedly omnipotent invisible "Father" who lets all kinds of fucked up things happen to "His children" on a daily basis (and, back in the alleged day, Himself smote quite a few of these children he allegedly loved/s).
~ and I don't wanna hear about any "holy matrimony" BS b/c the word matrimony didn't exist until the 1300s (and, "holy matrimony" only applies if it is a religious ceremony, which is not a requirement for marriage in this country). Besides, if matrimony/marriage wasn't considered holy from the get-go, from the bogus beginning-of-the world Biblical days (how old's the Earth now, 6,000 yrs? rolleyes ) ~ oh, well; too late now.

confused

Yeah and to offer the minority equality is special treatment. I know this because I am a minority. I'm saying that the fact that they are a minority justifies the need for it.

If it weren't special, it wouldn't be any different than the status quo.

The problem IS the status quo.

IF everyone were equal, there would be no perception of special.

It is not special treatment to seek equality. It's ending a distorted status quo that initially sees it as someone seeking to rise to hetero (Anglo-Saxon, whatever) status.

I agree with you, entirely. I'm just saying that because the status quo is what it is and the fact we have to fight against it, it will be considered special treatment. The ideals that have shaped this warped status quo make it clear that anything that deviates from a certain set of qualities is the side that is warped.

I think the main reason is because deep down, subconsciously, they are envious.

lol

Well, I'm only half-kidding actually. Think of it, some of the facts and stereotypes about gays include a 'freer' lifestyle, not being encumbered by the responsibilities and stable boredom of the wife-husband family home life, in Russia where marriage and adoption is not allowed for them, gays end up being wealthier than the general population [middle class] simply because they are 'single'/don't have families to take care of, which leads to more envy, then perhaps some married/coupled heteros would like to explore that aspect of sexuality but don't for all sorts of reasons...

In any case, I bet national governments, local authorities and state-funded social institutions love making a fuss about gays because during that time the public is not thinking about all the major issues you just cited and is not asking the hard questions.

Just my thoughts...

But people care way to much here & in my home town in Texas who is gay, in Texas it's more crazy religious people...... and in hollywood even by gay people themselves like that disgusting piece of shit Perez Hilton who tries to do nothing but out every guy in Hollywood almost.

As someone who is gay i ask who the fuck cares? why do people care so much about celebrities, or every day people they know if there gay or not?

There is just way more important thing's in the world to be concerned about, so people like these crazy religious nuts who are preaching about gay's & preaching about the end of the world to Get the fuck out of here lol

Oh hell naw! What makes you so damn hot that gay men would want to fuck you? And why the hell would you think we need more gay girls? If they are gay, they don't want your ass. Hello????? Gay, whether it's a male or a female, means attracted to the same sex, not the opposite sex so what the hell would a gay woman possibly want with you? Oh, so you like to watch? Well, why? Are you not capable of satistfying a straight woman so you have to just sit back and simply "watch" two women that aren't attracted to you whatsoever?

Oh snap!! dancing jig

Come on andy you know damn well when str8 dudes watch chicks grinding, the next to last thing on their minds is whether the chicks want them. Straight dudes find women, no matter the women's preference, sexually attractive. They just wanna see titty and cooch. Kind of like when some str8 women occasionally watch man on man porn. They just wanna see ass and dick. This is purely conjecture based on an old post from Deadflower3 and what some str8 men who chase lesbians have told me. Speaking of Deadflower...she gone missing or something? She had some thread awhile back about how she wanted to sexu up a gay dude.

And how many of those straight women actually go out to gay clubs looking for gay men that they can watch in bed together? And when they do, if a lesbian flirts with them in the gay club, because they are in a gay club, are they ready to fight? The very little bit of that female behavior that I have seen in the gay clubs has been very scarce. Actually, I think I've only seen one woman like that in all my years of clubbing. However, I have seen tons of these gutter trash men that come out to the clubs thinking their little pervert asses are going to be able to get with two dykes (and the only women that give them the time of day, by the way, are crack smoking trash bitches). But when a gay man comes up to these men, well boy howdy it's time for the OK Coral in a gay club. I ain't never heard so much "fag" and "faggot" words in my life in a damn gay club. I know one damn thing, if a white motherfucker goes into a black club and calls someone a "nigger", he will be lucky to make out with his life. It should be that way in the gay clubs but it's not because these stupid weak ass queens are too stupid to give a damn. That has been a thorn in my ass since day one of going out that there is no fucking gay pride whatsoever in these damn clubs. But as far as those so called "straight" men go, just go out into the parking lot later on that night and those same perverts are trying to pick up dragon queens when the dykes told them to kiss their motherfucking ass.

Damn that "he's just being a man" bullshit. If the bastard wants to watch a woman with another woman and maybe even join in, that's fine. But the son of a bitch better damn well be ready to get on his knees and suck a damn dick also because if he wants a woman to sleep around with her same gender then he better be prepared to do the same thing or he's a damn hypocrit and I hate a fucking hypocrit. I believe in knocking those motherfuckers down to size.

Do you think we're going to just sit there and let somebody fuck with us? Hell naw! Or is it because we feel we should be able to talk about our sexuality out in the open? I've heard that damn "I don't have a problem with gay people but why do they want to talk about it all the time" till I'm sick of it. It's not a damn mood I'm in at the moment, it's who I am. It's not something that come and goes in phases. It's who I am and it's my life and when straight motherfuckers stop talking about their damn wives and husbands and children then I'll stop talking about my damn sexuality also.

The thing is, no matter how much someone says that they are "fine with us", they still see us as second class citizens because they have no problem with constantly talking about their day to day routine activities as a straight person with their marriages or relationships but when we do the same thing, we're accused of "always talking gay shit". Well, dammit, ya'll motherfuckers are always talkign your straight shit and if we are "equals" like you say we are, we should be able to do the same.

And what other type of "special treatment" could it be that we're looking for? Could it be if someone fucks with us, we want retaliation? You damn right! If a motherfucker fucks with me, I won't stop until I sue his ass into the very fires of hell. I ain't beneath nobody. I am equal to you motherfuckers and I will be treated equal.

"The reason some people hate gays." (note: some not all)

Well, you got to hate someone. shrug or so it seems with some people.

After all how are you going to feel superior if you don't degrade others who are different.

To sum it all up : It's all bullsh*t.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

This thread belongs in P&R because it has tackled "minority treatment", "sexual preference", "tolerance", "lifestyle", "hatred", "love", "religion", etc. I mean damn, it don't get more P&R than this.

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
