LLLLLOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL

I just don't think Spike is packing like that. I swear that muhfugga got a 3 incher if anything. Any dude that can cross his legs with ease is obviously missing some twig. Tyler don't neva eva sit crossed leg....u notice that? He might put his ankle on his other knee but that lasts about a minute then he shifts position.

nod I recognize the big dick signs.

Fuckin' crotchers disbelief

rolleyes Even if he got a big un don't mean he like to use it. And I've actually found that the shorties be packin' more often than the tall dudes. Case in point: A few weeks ago, I had this foine ass 6-7 Jamaican I was trynna draft to my team. When I went in for the girth check dude was all of 4 inches . . . hard. sigh pout

falloff I didn't know Spike called him a buffoon and a stepin fetchit. Well...the former is true in terms of his Madea character.

While I applaud him for standing up to Spike Lee and for building his movie empire, albeit an empire based on a limited body of work, he can't be so blind as to see Spike's point. How many damn Madea movies can Tyler make before the character becomes unlikeable and before the audience rebels?

THIS^ is like asking how many Freddy Kruger/Nightmare On Elm Street films New Line Cinema can make before movie fans rebel. The real problem is that Madea is too popular of a fictional character among the fans for Tyler Perry Films Studio to stop making films AND plays with Madea involved in some form of fashion.

Now see! That is why Spike is somwhat wrong for dissing Tyler. Tyler is merely giving the people what they want. If Spike can do better ...then he ought to do better. Tyler is right, Spike need to shut the hell up. Well...he need to shut the hell up and make another film.

Honestly I dont like neither...Tyler's work is ok but I know he uses the same actors/actresses in the same damn movie to the point it boring

Alot people I ran into are shocked Im not into the whole *madea* thing....Honestly I'm not Ill rather look at eddie murphy's the klumps, Grandma Klump in my opinion was alot more funnier than Madea

Maybe thats just me because Im not into what most people are into these days

lol Right?! Spike ain't the only one saying this. Regardless of who is saying it, there are many valid critiques of his work. Has he addressed that? Granted, he don't have to but it would be nice.

Sad but true. But remember, Spike Lee (.......boule! lurking ) started THIS feud. And now, Tyler Perry is going to finish it once and for all.

And to think this hot mess could have been prevented if Spike would have "pass the torch" to Tyler by acknowledge him as the most successful black filmmaker for the moment.

CUE This is the part where Harle OR anyone else goes off on me! boxed lol

I love the fact that Spike Lee doesn't give a fuck about looking like the "bad guy/midget" to the press as long as there's truth to what he says, and there is no matter how folks try to sugarcoat it or try to poke holes in Spike's argument, he's only pointing whats clearly stated in Tyler's films, I don't understand how he(Tyler) screams foul. Its like Paul Mooney said, "its late in the day, n*ggas wanna a dance for a piece of chicken, they got to get called on on it".

But with all the shortage of black films nowadays, I don't think people have an issue with Tyler Perry as a PERSON, in fact, many of these "hard to satisfy negros & neglits" would embrace him if there's more to his movies than paying homage to Butterfly McQueen and Hattie McDaniels. Those same people have pointed out times & time again that he's one of the few who steady keep hiring black cast, so we know he's a decent guy. A decent guy with some of the shittiest films ever.

[Edited 4/20/11 14:24pm]

Yeah I agree with that

Come on Harle...the thread title is "Spike Lee Can Go Straight to Hell" not "All Ye Who Posess Common Sense and a Love for Cinematic art Can Go Straight to Hell."

I think Tyler has a long way to go in terms of making quality films that center upon black characters and aren't relegated to comedy but I'd rather have his type of films than no black films at all. He is giving black black people work in the industry. He is paving the way for a new crop of actors, writers, directors and hopefully producers and that has to count for something. I be damned if I sit through another Soul Plane or The Wash! Now whoever made those films need to go straight to hell. lol

I'll bite: Pass what torch? Dude you crazy. You kill me with this shit as IF Spike could make TP receive his guidance. For all we know, Spike did reach out to him and TP wasn't having it. And what feud? Spike spoke his opinion just like e'ry body else has a right to. He didn't go in on TP at all so I don't get why it's a feud. rolleyes

Look at it from THIS angle below.

Basketball:

Michael Jordan ---> Kobe Bryant

Pro Wrestling/Sport Entertainment:

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson ---> John Cena

American Football:

Joe Montana ---> Tom Brady

Film making:

Oliver Stone ---> Quenton Tarantino

Spike Lee ---> Tyler Perry

As much as I miss seeing Michael Jordan in the prime of his basketball career, I needed to move on and acknowledge that Kobe Bryant is THE main superstar of the game at this moment. He is still winning championships.

I use the exact same argument about Spike Lee. He had his moments in the prime of his career (especially with the films Do The Right Thing & Malcolm X). But right now, Tyler Perry is having his moments. Tyler is the one that is making hit films more often than Spike. Plain and simple.

spit What all that got to do with what I'm saying??? TP is a grown ass man (I'ma give him the benefit lol ) if he wanted Spike's help he could get it or take the initiative to tighten up his directing/ screenwriting game if he saw fit.

What was the last thing Spike done? I tried to watch Miracle At St. Anna, but found it a bit too comedic and not serious enough...maybe I went into it incorrectly and expected too much from it; however the comedy in this serious story just was too much for me. I did however return the movie right away and havent talked about it since.

Spike Lee is a great filmaker; however he just should let his work do the talking. Spike put himself in this situation by starting shit...but Spike has always spoke his mind. He also LOST my support after his Absolut campaign..something he was against just in the movie Bamboozled....mmmm mm mm disbelief

ANYWAY

Cant wait to see the movie version of Madea Big Happy Family..hope its good...i know it will not be as forward as the play though..they never are...its like comparing a book to a movie.

Crooklyn is a very underrated family film. Clockers was Spike's first and only 'hood film that is the east coast answer to the west coast's Boyz In The Hood & Menace II Society.
