As opposed to the factual entries you can find in books, articles, journals, or any appropriate doctor on the subject?

it's the first i'd heard of it, and it's never happened to me. please forgive my ignorance.

Just hope you didn't jinx yourself. If you ever feel like you are dying in your sleep but wake up realizing you didn't die, you went through it! lol

I was trying to explain it to a couple I know from the pub today..and they both looked at me as if I was some kind of nutter

The last time I experienced it that night I decided to sleep in my bed upside down..head where my feet usually are..I'm not sure why..I just couldn't sleep that night.

I'm going to do it tonight...I shall report my findings in the morning.

night night

It didn't work pout

But i reckon it was because I was pretty drunk last night.

Slept like a big drunk baby.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Now THAT's a creepy picture, lol. Really chilling, when you consider the possibilities.

This painting (which hangs in a museum in Detroit!) really does depict a common perception that is attributed to sleep paralysis. That a ghostly thing is sitting on you, preventing you from moving.

I'm struck by how vulnerably posed the sleeper is, and by that creepy looking horse-thing lurking in the shadows, lol. I also think it's amazing that a painting would have been created depicting this phenomenon.

and breathing! That is PERFECT for explaining what it's like. LIke something IS sitting on you preventing you from taking a breath. Terrible.

I've had sleep paralysis several times, but only just recently found out what it was... I really thought it was spirits visiting me because I would get the feeling that someone was sitting next to me on the bed or shaking the bed, but I couldn't move or open my eyes to see what it was... it was really scary... although after reading this, I'm really glad that I didn't open my eyes to see the old hag!!!

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. I thought this only happen to me and I WAS LOSING MY MIND. The first time it happen an old lady was standing in the corner of my bedroom and I could not move. The second time it happen someone was turning my door knob to my bedroom and I could not move to go check it out. The crazy thing, I lived in a studio apartment by myself eek
