Your favourite treat/dessert...

To go with your coffee or tea?

With me...I love biscotti with a nice expresso or cappuccino.

or beignets (french donuts). I love to make some with some cafe au lait. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with homemade strawberry jam..yum!

or petit fours with a cup of earl grey tea..if I'm feeling fancy

Share some of your favourite treats! biggrin

My favourites are various fruits: I love mangoes, Ontario-grown strawberries (indescribably sweet), grapes, pineapples, Ontario-grown peaches...

My favourite combo treat is a peanut butter and banana sandwich. Just close your eyes and savour it!

For me, that would be Honduran-style SEMITAS

That would be the round one in the front row, second from the left. It's like a coffee cake that is usually eaten or even dunked in coffee...the bread itself if only slightly sweet (reminds me of the consistency of a kaiser roll) and the white stuff on top is a rice-based(?) sweet, sugary crumble.

To the immediate right of the semita is that ring-shaped pastry called a Rosquilla [rro'-ski-ya]. It's hard as a rock (definitely meant to be dunked in coffee) and it's made of a cheese bread style dough.

Hondurans love coffee and pastries! nod

As Seinfeld says, "Look to the cookie!" Yes, they're good. My favorites are like the ones pictured (cream cheese frosting on the white side, chocolate frosting on the black).

But i'm not really fussy. If it's packed with sugar, i'll eat it. biggrin

Oops, I didn't see the 'to go with coffe or tea part'. I saw dessert and got carried away.

With a cup of tea I like a Mars. I'm gradually turning it into a friday afternoon tradition with the people I work with.

Alright....I'ma give a nod to the french....

Éclairs....drool

And some middle eastern desserts....because my grandma makes them too...they go amazing with some black tea and a hint of rosewater...

The golden squares with the almond on it are called "basbousa". It's a dessert made by Egyptains during Ramadan and is soaked in sugar syrup or honey. When my grandma makes these, I know it's a good day. drooling

The ones that look like they're wrapped in golden twine on the top is called "kounaffa". It's stuffed with pistachios and almonds and walnuts and drizzled with honey. Yummm

And the pastry wraped in phyllo is baklava...which I'm sure most are familiar with. My favourite are filled with pistachios.

All these desserts just melt in your mouth when you eat them. If you haven't ever tried it, I urge you to. It's a wonderful experience. cloud9
