Balding

Just one short question with a complex answer: What to do against balding?

It doesn't work well for people with a flat head on the back side. I've tried that already and it was horrible.

you could try testosterone suppliments, but the effects, and side effects are to be considered as well..there's minoxidil, but if you achieve any hair growth, it remains only if you continue to use the product, otherwise it disappears.

Have you consulted a dermatologist? that might by an avenure to explore...

lastly, balding for some men is inevitable. once you accept it, you'll see it's not so bad. so I read.

Ask Prince?

His dad and brother were bald, yet he has a full head of hair at his age. It´s amazing, really.

Go to a good surgeon and get a hair transplant.

Use rogaine.

Eat well, lots of protein and zinc.

Use oils a few times a week.

Reduce stress.

wink

careful with the zinc. it is a metal and has a daily limit that can be taken

Some people lose their hair after taking testosterone supplements.

Part of the testosterone turns into dht (dihydrotestosterone?) and that is the very reason why men lose hair in the first place. And of course also women during their menopause.

I know. It decreases copper levels in your system and should be taken in moderation. I never use more than 20 mg a day, sometimes a bit more, but I don´t exceed the recommended dosage.

But I read that you can take up to 100 mg a day.

My hair has thinned a lot (was never thick to begin with sigh). I use this (they have it for men&women at CVS). I've also tried Nioxin, but prefer Regenetresse (and it's cheaper). They're similar treatments. Not at all like Rogain or with the same effects if you stop.

It seems to be doing some good. If I end up losing too much and it's at the crown and not the front, I will probably just shave down at that point.

STRESS is the #1 reason for my thinning hair.

A few years back I was under so much work-induced stress that I would comb it in the morning and my hands would be COVERED with fallen hair.

Now that I'm going through another bought of stress, my scalp is more prominent than ever. There is no baldness on either side of my family so I'm hoping it settles down soon.

Also, I'm going to try squeezing lemon juice onto my scalp every now & then...it's supposed to help strengthen your hair and reduce/reverse thinning hair.

I never believed in stress causing hairloss until my hair started drastically thinning between the end of 10th grade and the beginning of 11th grade. During that time I moved halfway across the country and didn't know anyone at my new school, I was still in the closet, etc. Looking back at pictures, the difference in my hair from 1 year to the next was ridiculous. But since I went through puberty so early, I guess it makes sense that I lost my hair so early. My forehead is HUGE, bigger than my father's even. My hair receded for years before it started getting thinner. I just keep my hair faded and it looks okay. I've learned to accept my balding head. biggrin

Yeah...the stress thing really did a number on me.

My grandmother and my dad swear on (fresh-squeezed) lemon juice to help the hair.

Accept it and move on.

Buy sexy clothes you feel comfortable in and you'll look sexy.

Have great sex once a week.

Wear a hat.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Nizoral shampoo is supposed to help. I use that, but I'm not really fussed enough about trying to keep my hair that I would spend any real money on it.

Who said testosterone? Isn't that usually part of the problem, not the solution?

I read recently that its completely genetic, that there is nothing you can do for it short of transplants (which don't always work, cost a lot, are expensive and can look funky). The article said creams, compounds, pills, etc., can make a difference in the short run, but eventually, if you are meant to go bald you will. If that's true then it really does just become about grooming and personal asthetics. What looks good on you, to you.
