i'm not sure i want to speculate on what happened and why. a few colorful mental images pop into my head, i reject them this is the part of the book i choose not to read. the bits that get too gruesome

I understand some people can go into shock after the death of a loved one, maybe enter denial that the person is truly dead but this mess right here is just

What a awful way to treat your own mother. Sickening! No need to sense foul play, the foul play is quite evident. The fact they couldn't get off their asses from a damn game speaks volumes. And you don't find an ambulance, you CALL 911! The ambulance finds YOU. And where's the rest of the family? I'm pretty sure a funeral could have been arranged. But to leave her there to decompose, to be covered in bugs...that's SICK. To deprive her of food and water is WORSE. I hope she haunts them for the rest of their natural lives.

I would like to think that after she died... her body expelled the bowels and they had to remove the underwear and lift up the dress in order to clean up the fecal matter and body liquids...blood, seepage....

I read this yesterday and I couldn't formulate a thought afterwards. I still can't. I don't get it. Like, its beyond me. I can only assume that there must be some sort of mental illness involved. The brothers have claimed repeatedly that they didn't have the money to pay for a doctor or funeral, but investigators easily found statements saying their mother had hundreds of thousands of dollars. They left a dead body in their house for months - didn't even take it out back and bury it. And they don't look the high end of the hygene scale themselves. Plus, they were already living at home (for quite some time, evidently), so you'd think (or, I guessing) that the mother had it set up so they would get the house and money. So... yeah... I don't get it. Just... its beyond me.

She would of decomposed anyways...not that I'm sticking up for them or anything. Maybe she wasn't wearing underwear in the first place and her gown rose up during the fall.

I'm trying to avoid that, too...but I've been around my detective cousin for too long. That just sounds fishy to me. True, she would have decomposed anyway, but....jeez...the fact that they let her sit there is what bothers me so much. I have a grandmother around that age who's been just like a mother to me since my own died. It gets to me HARD that people with mothers would treat their own like this.

She was probably raving and ranting at them for a good reason. They look like two no good bums...

Mom comes in the room, yelling at her no good sons for something, slips and falls...

sons laugh and ignore her

she threatens them if they don't help her

they call her bluff laugh and mock her and just leave her there... sufferring and crying and moaning

the sons in their evil way just ignore her, they may have possibly left the house for a day or two ...

she finally dies, releases her bowels.... they clean that up but don't want to get rid of her because she may be too heavy... messy... or whatever...

so they just leave her there....

how one eats, bathes, sleeps and performs in normal daily life without going mad at the sight and smells of YOUR DECOMPOSING MOTHER lying in the midddle of the floor of the stairs is beyond my understnding.

That's actually quite plausible. There are 3 instances I can think of when one might spontaneously shit (death, fear, traumatic bodily injury). I'd like to think this is what happened...then again....look at them mofos!!! I can't imagine them cleaning ANYTHING!
