black women are just sensitive about their hair..

even toward other black women ..geez

if i had a dollar for everytime i heard a black woman say "Is that all her hair" or "that aint all her hair"

Ace watch Chris Rocks documentary "good hair"

Not all Black women, because that's a pretty generalized statement. I've heard white woman asks other white women, "Is that all your hair?". Especially with so many women in general wearing hair extensions from all racial/ethnic groups, for whatever personal reason they choose, and they should never have to answer for anyone on that personal choice.

I thought Chris Rock's movie "Good Hair" was a piece of garbage and played up to stereotypical bs. If he was so concerned about his daughter asking him how come she doesn't have the kind of hair like her friends/schoolmates, he should have explained it to her the right way. Since he was so concerned about the "weave" industry and many Black women, he should have been just as concerned about the "weave/wig" industry and how it caters to many non-black women as well.

I felt the movie was too generalized, and he acted ignorant when he questioned a Black woman if her real hair was her own as though he's never seen Black women with long hair in his entire life. If he wanted to question a Black woman who wore weaves, all he had to do was ask his wife, who wears a weave down her ass. Then there would have been no reason for him to use that excuse, to make a stereotypical movie like that, just to make a quick buck at the expense of promoting stereotypical nonsense. He may as well join Tyler Perry on the minstrel train.

I thought good hair was pretty good plus its was more of a comedy doc.

maybe its where i live becuase in Atlanta alot of women wear weaves/wigs

Atlanta is Weave City lol

but black women act like weave/wigs are a bad thing

Black women are the masters of weave and we should own that be proud that we innovated a new style of hair lol

you see other races getting sew-ins and lacefronts and guess who doing the hair Majority of the time ...A black woman

I did not mean you "specifically" Ace, I meant on a general basis, when someone does research on a specific group, it's best to not assume, that whatever you are learning or have been exposed to from that group, that all those within that group are not the same or practice "customs" the same way.

Example: I noticed through my own experience many people (Black and White, etc.) have this notion that people from the Caribbean are all the same, practice the same customs, lifestyles, listen to the same music, eat the same foods etc., when in fact they don't. There may be some similiarities among them, but the customs/lifestyles, music, mannerisms, religious beliefs, physical features/hair textures, etc. vary.

He would have done much better by making a movie about women and hair period, not focusing on just one, specific group, but I guess he didn't have his biusiness hat on right or didn't see the "big picture", creative process, big $$ signs in front of him. If he wanted to center on Black women and hair, he could have made it a learning experience, showing the various textures of hair of Black women in general and the care that goes into it, and yes, he could have thrown in the hair extension thing, but that's all he really made the movie about...Black women and weaves, as a comedy/mockery piece. He could have taken a different route, and made it an educational lesson for his daughter, showing her various textures of black hair, and those of other groups. But the fool went the minstrel and tap-dance and step-it and fetch-it route, and the movie didn't do that well at the box office. shrug

black women are not just sensitive about our hair.....historically and systemically..a lot of shit has been done that establishes some attitudes towards women of african descent and their hair. It is why videos like this one was necessary:
