Somebody posted about the family all having locks....and I meant to comment but I cannot find the post....so, I just wanted to say.....locks are often sexy as hell. (I just dont like when balding men have locks...there is something so wrong about it to me......ugh.....)

These are cornrows, right? Do you think Stevie pulls this off alright, even though his hairline goes way, way back there? lol

Its against my "religion" to ever criticize anything particular about Stevie or his hair. I truly love so much about what he stands for.....i cant go there...not about Stevie....

Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

As far as on women, I've always thought like this looks hot

More so than with more and thinner rows

This is how I wear my hair when it's natural...it's out of my way, low maintenance and I don't have to sit for hours to get it. lol

thumbs up! I think it looks great. Anything kinda braided, in fact, but especially as in the pic. Back in the day I really wanted to know what my wife would look like with something like that, but she's only ever had some small parts braided, kinda underneath. Still, it does things to me redface razz

Love my hair whatever I do with it on different days. It's not a "lot of work" or hard to do. Its absolutely lovely and always looking fly as hell......thank you very much.

disbelief And no...black women do not all wear weaves. Who the fuck are you hanging around? My hair is down my back and fabulous. If you look closely, you will notice that just as many white women wear weaves as black people because their hair is often too thin and they need volume...its just not talked about as much.

hmm I just want to know why the hell some folk are on here trying to talk like they know something........or why the hell somebody is asking stupid questions as if people of color are from outerspace.

Its hair....its fucking hair....and just like white people, there are many different textures and different ways of taking care of it--some folks take good care of their hair, and some folks look fucking busted. Race is not a factor.

fro

I WHIP MY HAIR BACK AND FORTH!!! and its ALL mine...believe that headbang

I really do think the question comes from an innocent place. No assumptions. No baiting. Nothing "...relative to white women." And, knowing Ace, no malice or weird intent.

I live where he does and, it's true: Sisters here simply do not rock natural styles -- or at least sisters with tighter afro texture hair don't. (There are many Black women of immediate multiethnic backgrounds here whose hair is very loosely curled or wavy and probably left pretty natural). I can honestly say I've met exactly one Black woman in my 4-1/2 years here [originally from St. Thomas] who wears a tight afro style without some processing or embellishment.) shrug

I can see why he'd be curious.

I don't know who WTF is (don't think I've ever seen their posts), but Sags is not Ace, sorry. They may or may not share a distaste for really bad poetry though, I don't know.

Perhaps Sags is not Ace, I said it was possible. They, just like you, also posted on the two threads mentioned, so I would not expect you to even consider my post plausible.

Hopefully other orgers will pay more attention to the tone of Sags/Ace/Imago/WTF's posts from here forward and draw their own conclusions.

That's all, Good night.

It is conceivable that someone (Sags...WTF), who has openly acknowledged, has "many" accounts, could and would initiate a thread and then "load" the thread with support, opposition, controversy, snarkyness, etc. I mean why else would someone have multiple accounts?

Now I know this sounds bizzare, but not really when you think about it.

I mean, the org and the world is full of "interesting" people...you might ask yourself what sort of person would do something like that....well.....a very troubled individual would.

For example, it reminds me of a post I read on a site (can't remember which one)--whereby someone posted about moving to another country and stalking children with the intent of having sex with them and then commented about it on the same public website, sick right? But it happens.

Just noticed this part and it's too bizarre to ignore, actually.

Sorry to sidetrack again, and this is obviously more about other threads and it's been carried over to here, but WTF?!

No perhaps about it. Let me just inform you that you were wrong. Not knowing is fine, but now you do know. Sags and Ace are not the same person.

I think likening the problems as you see it with Sags' posts here on the org with a paedophile boasting on another site about moving to a foreign country to have sex with children is irresponsible and, frankly, disgusting. Still, at least you're not bullying eh. confused

Hold Up Wait A Minute....

What I find interesting about this thread is this:

This thread began on the same date another thread entitled "Bully" appeard in Prince.Org Site Discussion nearly two hours earlier. (Its still there.)

The "Bully" thread initiated by a female orger charged Sags..(imago, WTF?) with constantly posting harassing comments on threads initiated by women, essentially stalking women's threads. (Later I post similar, specifically noting his tendancy to mock african american people, women in particular.) Also in the "Bully" thread the original poster, myself and one other orger request that moderators eliminate Sags' multiple alternate screen names.

"Coincidentially" Ace shows up on the "Bully" thread to show his unwavering support to Sags. And goes so far as to dismiss any possible racist or discriminatory behavior shown by Sags.

Also, "coincidentally," Ace's new thread mocks african american women (It seems like so much work! I get tired just thinking about it) and makes assumptions about us and our hair, under the guise of being "curious".

Could Sags also be Ace? If not, they certainly have an alliance as was exhibited in the "Bully" thread.

Could this thread be retribution for identifying Sags as sexist and racist and demanding moderators eliminate the numerous alternate accounts he has?

Also interesting is the "black women" who show up on these threads always defending the offenders with "no clue" ~ I certainly question if in fact they are "black women".

Think about it, if you had multiple accounts, each account could be a different "character" ~ just because someone posts a picture on their profile doesn't mean that is who they actually are?

Now I know some women posted sincerely, most likely unaware of the game being played by Sags/Ace/WTF.

If I was inclined to have multiple accounts I could be a gay person, a straight person, a white person, a black person, an asian person, an african person, and on and on - none of you would know. However we do know that Sags has multiple accounts, why?

It is conceivable that someone (Sags...WTF), who has openly acknowledged, has "many" accounts, could and would initiate a thread and then "load" the thread with support, opposition, controversy, snarkyness, etc. I mean why else would someone have multiple accounts?

My last point is this. I believe this is/was a bait thread. I believe in response to orgers requesting moderators enforce the rules of this site and eliminate the multiple accounts held by one orger.

This thread was initiated to start a sh*t storm and to try to devalue black women as is the orignal poster(s) normal tendancy, under the innocent guise of seeking information.

Wake up! I don't know, maybe not. Just food for thought. lol

Interesting theory (lol) but I'm pretty sure that Ace is a 'real' person and not some "character" created by somnebody with multiple accounts.

Absolutely agree. If you want to learn about a culture/ethnic group, do llike many anthropologists do. Go into that community with an "open mind" and speak to various people within that community, and interact with them directly about various cultures they practice within that group. I often think that many people forget that Blacks come from various communities/ethnic groups, and they don't all practice the same exact customs/live the same lifestyles. Another thing is that many, will use just "one experience" or contact they had with someone outside their group or a comment "they heard" from others in that group, and use that as "the final stamp" for the way all people from that particular group, think, live, eat or breathe. That's not educating oneself about them, that's being ignorant.lol

[Edited 4/10/11 10:27am]

Umm, why should someone change their method of learning because YOU require them to kowtow to you? That is absurd. There is nothing wrong (I repeat, nothing) with asking questions out of curiosity and it isn't anyone else's responsibility to do YOUR homework for you. That is, before you run your mouth about a bunch of stuff that has absolutely no meaning, figure out if this person is deserving of your ire. I surely can't believe you stop everyone and say, "No! Go make black friends and ask THEM about it! Don't ask me!" That is totally out of line.

I'm sorry, but this concept that people should stick to their own is unbelievable. Surely you are aware that this is racist. And not, "Well, is it racist if the person is black?" I find, a lot of the times, that justification is made from Black to ____ racism because of how tough black people had it/have it. Unfortunately, everyone has it tough and it's not productive to respond to this with further segregation.

Edited cause I started typing a long ass post and then couldn't be bothered.

Actually, hairdressers in the black community need $$$ so they mislead their clients with snake oil tactics and sell naive customers into trying products and services that is actually bad for their hair.

So with all the bad info being presented as good info the confusion happens.

I know hair dressers that actually have some of their clients believing that black hair can not grow or look full with out a weave. That their natural hair will never look smooth without heavy processes and extremities of heat.

OH!!! Fullness is a quality all women ( regardless of race) want in their head of hair, many black women lack body and fullness once the natural nap of their hair is straightened. Since nappy hair is usually fine in texture, the hair (even if it grows out densly) will wear flat against the head. Especially if it is weighed down by heavy styling products... so these dubious hair stylists sell the idea that these women NEED hair weaves to make more money off of them.

Its a damn shame too, so when women go to natural... the stylist will point them to products that will do NOTHING for their hair, so the client will go back to the expensive weaves/braids and other services.

More salons are "hair care" salons, but this comes at the expense of losing profit because of it. So most salons mislead clients on purpose.

really? I wonder if all stylists do this, because I hear all the time about products recommend by hair dressers. They are expensive as F&@#eek Thank God I don't go to them, then. I'll keep using my cheap conditioner thankyou. nod

I saw those natural hair videos you guys talked about. I think that if you didn't have to have an afro first then more black women would have natural hair. It's like you have to cut all your hair off first and it only looks good when it's been like that for 3 years or more. I wouldn't want to have an afro either.

Actually afros are not that difficult to take care of if you take daily care of it. Back in the day, big afros were the style, as well as Black women wearing their hair naturally, but as time changed, many Black women for several reasons, i.e., employment opportunities, were forced to result in "straightening" their hair, because some employers held some prejudices against "ethnic" hairdos worn by Blacks, as some have explained here.

People have to remember this wasn't too far after the civil rights act passed, and there was still some deep, inner prejudices everywhere in America, so many Black women were forced to assimilate into a more "European" or standard American look, with their hair to find/maintain employment.

This was not very good for most Black women, because that type of pressure led to beliefs by many, that certain Black customs were not "not worthy/devalued" within American society. I have to say admire the black youth today, who embrace their natural hair/hairdos with pride and dignity, no matter what other processes they choose to do with their own hair.

I tell them once you try it, you'll never want to go back to anything else becuase it's easy, versatile, and most of all cheap. I wash my hair in the shower and twist my hair for an hour every week and spend about 10 bucks a month on lock gel. U cant get easier than that.

yeahthat I agree with this. When I began graduate school last semester I decided to get my hair braided to minimize time spent in the beauty salon so I could focus on my studies. I have never been a braids person so this is new to me. It is easier to manage at the moment but it is not me.

Last Monday I was in class when we were discussing Ethical and Legal Issues. My professor turned to me and told me that I have to be cognizant of the community that I work in because in some communities braids are not acceptable. She was being honest and I respected her for that. She has no idea that it was never my intention to keep the braids after graduating next May. lol

I always appreciate when somebody in the majority culture gives a heads up. Thats rare. Many will deny the truth, which actually fosters that intolerant environment.

Here's a video snippet of Ayana Byrd, author, discussing the implications of hair, that I found interesting. She is also author of the book "Untangling the Roots of Black Hair in America".

It seems like so much work! I get tired just thinking about it! whew

I don't have the patience to read each and every post but I have to ask you Ace; you are aware that women of African descent are not the only ones wearing weaves, lace-fronts or other wigs right? You are aware that there are non-black women who not only "straighten" their hair but some even use chemicals to make their hair curly/kinky. I swear it's like you never opened up a magazine, been to a night club, a hair salon, a fashion show, Walmart, or have just observed actresses and wannabes on television. Unfortunately, everyone has it tough and it's not productive to respond to this with further segregation.

Edited cause I started typing a long ass post and then couldn't be bothered.

thumbs up!

Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

Wow...black hair care has surpassed the Japan earthquake/tsunami thread on the org.....

so the next time folks decide to stroll down this road....dont pretend not to remember that some folks "curiosity" is downright offensive to others...........

First of all, it was a bullshyt thread cause white folk think black women are their slaves, cant stand to see anyone of them make an intelligent statement that dont have pussy, dyck, fuckin or fighting attached to it and do indeed want to devalue them.....thats fine.

I have found if you make a statement ON THE ORG that makes them wonder who you are, or say some shyt they dont think you are supposed to know about, they always get rhetorical, post fat asses, try to lick ya pussy, whatever... but them asses sit on the computer all day and live their lives far away from the shyt they start on the org. so if i dont care to fuck em or fight 'em, i got other shyt to do too.

are they racist??? who the fuck cares......shallow trumps racism anyday. Why a bitch ask me in 2011 how i knew about Hedonism and the taste of coffee creamer......da fuck outta here.

disparity is disparity.....

you know you are a fuckin imposition, but such is life , right???

Don't fret Ace... if you say you are innocent, then I believe you. But this thread can be seen as rude, or atleast culturally challenged even for one as well traveled as you sir.

You're right. I should've just titled it, "Org women who put a lot of time and/or money into your hair, I'm curious...". Point taken. Thank you.

P.S. I don't recall ever mentioning Serena Williams. confuse Maybe it was in a thread where someone was discussing body-types and I said her build wasn't my type? confuse

Had to go back and reread this thread in case I was missing something.confuse

I think it's cute that you think this might have helped. As if the mere mention of weaves and relaxers would not have lit a fire under a few folks ass to come back at you with an "Ace, really, just come out and say what you mean" comment. lol

Folk of every damn color on this site question and comment on other race/culture's doings and habits. As a matter of fact "white folk" this or that gets tossed around and no one bats an eye. So you posted a question about black slang and hair in one day omfg

Don't you know there's a limit of questions outside your ethnicity, you white devil?? mad

if we dont ask questions about other cultures and races, how will we learn about each other? I find in talking to people of other faiths than mine, I have more in common, rather than less

Uh huh, this is my shit
All the girls stomp your feet like this

A few times I've been around that track
So it's not just gonna happen like that
Because I ain't no hollaback girl
I ain't no hollaback girl [x2]

Ooooh ooh, this my shit, this my shit [x4]

I heard that you were talking shit
And you didn't think that I would hear it
People hear you talking like that, getting everybody fired up
So I'm ready to attack, gonna lead the pack
Gonna get a touchdown, gonna take you out
That's right, put your pom-poms downs, getting everybody fired up

A few times I've been around that track
So it's not just gonna happen like that
Because I ain't no hollaback girl
I ain't no hollaback girl [x2]

Ooooh ooh, this my shit, this my shit [x4]

So that's right dude, meet me at the bleachers
No principals,no student-teachers
Both of us want to be the winner, but there can only be one
So I'm gonna fight, gonna give it my all
Gonna make you fall, gonna sock it to you
That's right I'm the last one standing, another one bites the dust

A few times I've been around that track
So it's not just gonna happen like that
Because I ain't no hollaback girl
I ain't no hollaback girl [x2]

Ooooh ooh, this my shit, this my shit [x4]

Let me hear you say this shit is bananas
B-A-N-A-N-A-S
(This shit is bananas)
(B-A-N-A-N-A-S)

Again
This shit is bananas
B-A-N-A-N-A-S
(This shit is bananas)
(B-A-N-A-N-A-S)

A few times I've been around that track
So it's not just gonna happen like that
Because I ain't no hollaback girl
I ain't no hollaback girl [x2]

Ooooh ooh, this my shit, this my shit [x4]
