Bizarre things in the animal world!

If it isn't strange enough that the clown fish lives in the tentacles of the anemone, this fish can actually change its sex.

Clown fish are monogamous and form pairs... the female is bigger than the male but if the female dies, the male with gain weight and change into a female fish and mate with a new male!

The anenome protects the clown from predators, and the clown brings food to the anenome. It's the perfect relationship.

It is nice like that, but the fucking male fish will fuck around and turn into a female fish and start banging other guys... that is the strange part!

Cuttlefish actually make these hallucinatory patterns of light in color that hypnotize their prey before they eat them. They're quite beautiful.

The fire-bellied toad turns on its back when it is threatened to show its bright belly. The sudden change of color is usually enough to startle its enemy. It is also a warning that the toad's skin is poisonous.

The tuatara is just like a reptile that lived millions of years ago, and can only be found in New Zealand today. They usually share a nest with a type of bird called a "petrel" and they can be left together safely.

Starfish have a gross and unusual manner of eating. They regurgitate their stomach through their mouth onto their food, and absorb it directly. Then they suck their stomach back in.

There are all bioluminescent creatures. I believe it's a
kind of proteine that makes them light up like that, but
even still, it is pretty amazing for some of these small
and mid-sized creatures to make such bright light in
often very deep and extremely dark places.

The rainbow colors on ctenophores are not bioluminescence. They are merely diffraction acting on the ambient light. This shallow-dwelling species, Beroe forskalii, produces a bright luminescent display when disturbed. (Approx size 10 cm).

The ctenophore Deiopea is found near the surface around the world. Notice the thin filamentous branches of the tentacles which trail along the body from the mouth (top). (Approx length 5 cm).

I wish that one could purchase those cool, bioluminescent creatures and cultivate them for one's personal gratification.

Well, I know for certain that there are quite a lot of
bioluminescent jelly-fish. ranging from those tiny ones
to fairly big ones. I suppose those should be fairly
easy to keep at home.

When placed in an aquarium tank and exposed to blacklight
they light up very cool like ghosts in the water.

I don't know about the other creatures, though, perhaps.
I've also seen lots of other bioluminescent animals at the
marine zoo, so it is possible to keep them in aquariums.

But I think it might be very hard to keep them alive at
home, without a $100K aquarium with all the right stuff.

Still, it would be very cool, yes.

Dolphins are the only other species (apart from humans) to be racist. If a dolphin of a particular breed spots a dolphin of different colouring it will attack it.
