PS3 purchase.... I need help ! I wanna get my 10 year old a ps3 so I get online to check them out. I see theres a bundle option for an extra 100 dollar, should I buy that? Also, do I need/should buy an extra controller, I need to get an extra dual shock whatever????? Do I need the move motion controller? I still refer to the controller as a joy stick, I'm so out of it!
Can somebody who has a ps3 please tell me what should I get and what do I really need? I also have a 6 year old who obviously will be playing as well.
Also, what are some cool games that would compliment this gift? Do you remember lying in bed

i got a re-furb x-box that was crap. it came from a store called GameStop. i took it back and paid the diff. for the ps3 also a re-furb and i haven't been happier.
as with all electronics, it doesn't hurt to go the extra yard in protectin it 'speacially when it for a kid. (when left on for long periods un-used they get flighty)
all the EXTRAs that you may get just expand the experience of the unit. they also have add-ons that you can purches to up your gammin chances. lol
see GameStop, they're pretty helpful i am KING BAD!!!

What you need to establish is what console their friends have.As most of the popular games these days can be played online. So they will share name tags with school friends.
We got a Ps3 for our youngest son, but all his friends use XBox
The bundle options tend to have one decent game and the rest are rubbish.Essential purchace:" Call Of Duty Black Ops ". You will defiantly need two controllers, as for them motion sensor things i wouldn't bother as the games are poor. [Edited 4/6/11 13:17pm]

I've had my PS3 for about 3 years and I love it. I say only get the bundle if ur kid wants them. Sometimes they have different bundles for different games so just to make sure you don't waste your money ask your kid what kind of games they like. I would recommend getting the extra controller just in case one brakes or friends come over. Motion controller isn't necessary but if you wan't a Wii like experience on the PS3 go for it. Wireless internet is a must if you want all of the great features that come with this system. I have the old PS3 that is fat and includes a fan but if you are getting the newer slim model I would suggest getting a cooling pad to go with it. You can probably find them at gaming stores.
Games I would recommend are: Rockband 1,2, or 3 or if your a music nerd like me all of them lol. For a 10 year old LittleBigPlanet 1 or 2 would be exellent games. I recommend getting both and if you have wireless they can play the levels that others have made and even make their own. There is a game I love called Mirror's Edge but it has some violence and shooting in it. You can alway buy old PS one and PS2 games for it. I would suggest classics like Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot. You can even buy games like Pac-Man and Frogger.
Thats all I can think of right now I don't have my system at school with me and I can't remember what games I have. If you have anymore questions feel free to message me!!! Hope this helped. Yeah, I'm a female drummer, and yeah I'm

I bought a PS3 about a year ago...it comes with 1 controller (wireless) and a charging cable plus all teh cable to connect to TV by either Scart (old school) or HDMI (Need to give high definition picture).
The PS3 itself is a wondewrful beast wich Allows you to listen to all the music, watch all the films and view all teh video on any other machine connected to iour home network. Here in the UK it also allows you to watch on demand/catch up TV from 3 of the major channels as well as access the Internet/email. Plus you can download older PS1 and 2 games to play on it as well as rent/buy movies
The Move thing I dont really get - I guess its like a Wii but I dont think its a simple as just buying a move controller...i think there is a whole set up needed for it.
Advice on games?....cant go wrong with the Lego games (Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones, Pirates of teh Carribean etc)...great for all ages.
It contains everything I need as a single gamer but if youve got other kids who want to play 2 player games tetc tehn youll need anotehr controller.
I may be totally wrong but multiplayer (online) is totally free for PS3 users whereas I THINK X-box users have to pay fro connection to x-box live...again, could be wrong.
And of course its a Blu-Ray player with 3D palyback capability if your TCV is that modern.
Basically, in terms of Blu-Ray player, teh PS3 gets soem of the best rating constantly because its affordable, does teh job and is constantly havinh its software updated to keep it tip top.
Havent found a fault with the PS3 yet [Edited 4/6/11 12:51pm]

no to the bundle
yes to the extra sixxaxis controller
yes to the HDMI cable if you have HDMI input on your tv
no to the move - just not enough games to justify it....YET
games are a more subjective decision, there are quite a lot on the PSN (Playstation Network)
PS3 FTW. | |

online play is completely free with the PS3. You do have to pay for xbox live.

so...when that ring thing goes red....it's dead? like dead dead? or fixable dead? we bought the new one with 250GB of storage...perhaps it has some fixes too? "not a fan"

the early XBox's were crap, the new ones seem to be reliable. It's the same as the first jen Ps3's if you let them over heat they go YLOD "flashing yellow light".What that means is the thermal paste which acts as a heat deflector drys up and flakes off making the machine unusable, unless you fork out £160 for a fix.The new slim one's seem fine, but im not convinced.... Xbox for me would be the machine of choice..."stand them up and keep em cool

you'll be able to send it to Microsoft and they'll fix it, but you'll be without it for a few weeks.

There you go...I do actually know something. 2 otherthings to add: 1) in the time I've had my PS3 my cousin has list 2 xboxes to the red ring of death. 2) only 'downside' I see to ps3 is the Playstation Home bit....seems weird to me

I just save my current favorite game onto the harddisk for the time being and then erase the game afterwards if I need more space on the harddisk again. Saving a game makes your Xbox very silent and the fan is not running high all the time, the Xbox stays relatively cool that way. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Whatever you do, get the wireless remotes and buy an extra remote because folks drop shit and it will end the game time. Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.
