My bf had his appointment with his neurologist yesterday. It’s official - he has MS.

He’s taking it really well and I’m really thankful for that. It’s scary, of course, but it’s nice to finally have a diagnosis and a course of action.

The next step is to start treatment - he’ll be giving himself daily injections, probably for the rest of his life. The drug is said to slow the progression of the disease by 70%, which is huge. He’s also considering seeing a new doctor – I’ve been pushing him to see the doctor of my family friend who has MS. The doctor specializes in MS (it’s his whole practice) and is rated very highly.

His cousin (and bff) already signed him up to attend a happy hour for people in their 20’s and 30’s who are newly diagnosed with MS, so we’re all going to that in a few weeks. I’ve been doing lots of research as well.

Anyway - it takes a few weeks to get everything set up so in the meantime we’re off to the Florida Keys tomorrow to soak up some sunshine and celebrate having been together for a whole year (this Sunday is the anniversary of the day we met ). And hopefully forget about medical issues for a while.

I'm sorry about your man's prognosis, but at least now that the diagnosis has been made, both of you can get on with treatment and hopefully lead a happy life together. I'll pray for the best for both of you.

From all I can gather, Carrie, you're a class act, and the BF is blessed to have you. Thankfully, there are all sorts of new approaches and supports for you both to render this latest curveball as manageable as can be. Take care of each other. I'm wishing you two the best.
