The Tarheels are digging themselves another hole today against Clemson, already down 14-3. Let's see if they can come back like they did against the Caines yesterday. [Edited 3/12/11 10:18am]

Ohio State. I would send Michigan St. to the NIT Yeah I know Ohio St plays Michigan) Kansas should pound Texas Duke over VA Tech unless Duke is looking ahead to NC BYU for the third time? Really SDSU? NC, no problem with Clemson Florida should get by Vandy L'ville easy over tired UConn Arizona in a close one Alabama because KY won't play away from home Utah St. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

San Diego St. came through. Missed on Louisville and Arizona but they were both good games and either could've won. Kentucky surprised. I like Duke for the ACC championship tomorrow. #1 seeds should be: Ohio State, Kansas, Duke, Pittsburgh. #2 seeds should be: San Diego St., Notre Dame, North Carolina, Purdue #3 seeds should be: BYU, Syracuse, Florida, Texas I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Southeast Region as follows: In Washington, D.C. In Tucson In Tampa In Denver Nice traditional matchup between Michigan State and UCLA in the first round. Could see a couple upsets in Tucson with Utah State and Belmont being dangerous teams. Southwest Region as follows: In Tulsa In Denver In Chicago No. 3 Purdue vs. No. 14 St. Peter's Illinois will be facing former coach Lon Kruger in the matchup against UNLV. A win would likely pit them against another former coach, Bill Self at Kansas. Notre Dame and Purdue fans get a short trip to Chicago to support their teams. Both USC and VCU sneak in to the field. West Region as follows: In Charlotte In Tulsa In Tucson In Washington, D.C. Possible Duke matchup with Michigan or Tennessee could be interesting. Also could have Big East schools UConn and Cincinnati playing in second round. That is part of problem with 11 teams in tournament. The Huskies beat the Bearcats 67-59 in Storrs on Feb. 27 in their long meeting. East Region as follows: In Cleveland In Tampa In Charlotte In Cleveland Some interesting possible second-round matchups, including possible rematch between Kentucky and West Virginia. George Mason and Villanova played last year in a close game.

Catching up with former Northern Iowa hero Ali FarokhmaneshLostLettermen.com, the college sports fan site and former player database, regularly contributes to The Dagger. Here's a look at the current whereabouts of former Northern Iowa guard Ali Farokhmanesh. Halfway around the world in Switzerland, about as far removed from office pools and bracket banter as you can possibly get, they still recognize the player who sent last year's NCAA tournament into chaos. "We had been running on the track the first day with my Swiss teammates," Northern Iowa legend Ali Farokhmanesh said. "Like four different guys came up to me and said I ruined their bracket." As we approach the one-year anniversary of Farokhmanesh's historic 3-pointer that toppled No. 1 overall seed Kansas in the second round, the sharp-shooting guard has faded from the national spotlight. Now he plays pro basketball near the Italian border for the club SAM Basket Massagno, about 30 minutes from Milan, a stone's throw away from the legendary Lake Como and in the shadows of the Alps. Since moving from shooting guard back to point guard, Farokhmanesh has improved his ball handling and passing while still averaging 20.4 points per game and shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc. He hopes to parlay his success into an opportunity in a country with Europe's premier basketball teams, like Spain, Italy, Germany or Greece, and on the continent's top circuit, the Euroleague. Farokhmanesh admits the opportunity to play basketball and see the world is one he cherishes, yet the experience hasn't been one giant vacation. "You kind of put your life on hold being over here for the most part because you're away from everything but everyone back home is kind of living their life still and you're out here completely on your own, not a whole lot to do," Farokhmanesh said. "So it's hard at times but I think if it's your dream, it's definitely worth it." Farokhmanesh's current situation is eerily similar to his journey through college basketball, having to once again work his way up from obscurity.

Goodness I can't stand him. I'm already sensing some static between him and Greg Anthony.
I am LOVING this new format of showing the games on multple channels tho [Edited 3/17/11 11:42am]

Yeah it does seem a little chippy between Greg and Chuck
This is the format I've always wanted for the tourney, why it took them so long to do it is a mystery to me.

My fandom trumps you! In my mind!!! But rest assured, they go to shit in the NBA, so I should just not give a shit. That could be why all his players stay and PhD's. Or don't even try and just go to coaching.
As you can see, the hate for Duke spreads into ESPN documentaries. But he took it too far. Had he not said that phrase, he wouldn't be in hot water. My bf laughed. Being from NC he said that was how a lot of people felt. But seriously, you don't call them that awful name! It's not that serious.

On Duke Hatred
http://www.theatlantic.co...red/72537/
There are a couple of factors. I don't think, for example, Duke is more interested in background than UNC, but over time when your program gets to a point when you can pick and choose who you recruit you go for the best player who is going to cause you the least amount of trouble and graduate. They may come from a single parent home or not, but you can avoid kids than seem headed for trouble (Dean stopped recruiting Chris Washburn for this reason). It's kind of like Oprah. When her show first started she was doing paternity test, KKK, and makeover shows like everyone else, once she got success she was able to do it the way she wanted to.
Duke is very skilled at PR for their program. The basketball program is definitely used to sell the school. For example, every year they will play at least one Ivy League team in a non conference game. They are trying with this to sell Duke as being in the same class as the Ivies, but we also have a great basketball team which they don't have, you'll have more fun if you come here. Those are the students they are trying to appeal to. This further adds to the tension between UNC & Duke because most of them aren't from NC and don't really care for the state. I went on a recruiting trip to Duke and on the tour the guide said,'the only thing good about this state is this university.' He obviously didn't know I was a native. I also happen to think the annual drubbing an Ivy League school is important to the students as some of them didn't get into those institutions, probably one of the few times they had been told 'no'. One of the jokes at UNC is the easiet way to shut up a Dookie is just say 'Harvard.'
This is how they recruit Duke students. Trash my state! FUCK 'em!!! [Edited 3/17/11 14:04pm]

And while he's talking all that shit, he's sittin' behind a desk while Grant's STILL having a productive career with 2 college championships under his belt.
I forever will love me some Coach K fuck them haters
Show me that booty one mo' gain so I can spank it like Duke did UNC on Sunday! [Edited 3/17/11 14:06pm]

Your ass wasn't anywhere to be found in 2009 when UNC took the title, but OK whatever you say. You're such a fairweather fan! Root for your team! Go Texas! And then play your brackets.
But actually, I see Ohio or Kansas taking it this year.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
You's a mofo LIE! I start a thread rooting for Duke to beat UNC's arse E'RY year. So slide on somewheres with that boolshit!
I'ma wait to see how Kansas and Ohio do in the first round before I decide. I don't have the patience for that bracket shit.
Wouldn't it be something if UTSA shocked Ohio State today??? [Edited 3/18/11 6:59am]
