Ever heard the slang term "sunned" (or "sonned"?)?

The other day, on Stern, there was a reference to getting "sunned". Or is that "sonned"?

Anyone? ...Anyone? Bueller?

You're going to get the usual "what do you mean Black" comment soon. lol

Sort of like saying , "talking black"...now it's urban vernacular.

I'm so out of it now, I don't know what's in with the kids.

I'm still using 'jankity'

Is that you, Dan?! excited

They were playing clips of "black radio" and someone on the show defined the term and said it was a black thing.

I think anyone who knows me here knows that I would never say something that I thought was racially offensive.

Me neither.

Stern must've caught it from Robin and ran with it thinking it was a "black" slang.

"sonned" means getting embarrassed or being defeated

"We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

They were playing a clip from an NYC urban station. Robin had never heard the term. Was defined for them by "Big Black" (longtime caller and current co-host of Howard 101's Black on Black).

Yeah, being "sonned' is being made someone's son, i.e. being made their inferior.

are you obsessed with all things of african descent or are you just bored and baiting?

Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

As I said, I heard this the other day and I was curious as to how it was spelled.

As for the hair thread, it's something that's been on my mind for a while and I wanted to encourage people to do what's comfortable for them, rather than "suffer to be 'beautiful'" (see my latest reply there).

I'm sorry if these questions have offended anyone. They certainly weren't designed to do so.

sad

I'm well, Ace. Still perusing for full-time work and doing entirely unnecessary renovations to my apartment lol , but I'm fine. Enjoying the warming weather? I hear Monday's gonna be like 19°.

Yes! Although sometimes, in late winter, I feel like that Leonard Cohen poem:

A painful rededication, this Spring,
like the building of cathedrals between wars,
and masons at decayed walls;
and we are almost too tired to begin again
with miracles and leaves
and lingering on steps in sudden sun;

tired by the way isolated drifts lie melting,
like hulks of large fish rotting far upbeach;
the disinterested scrape of shovels,
collecting sand from sidewalks, destroying streams;
and school-children in sidecars,
staring out, astonished.

We had learned a dignity in late winter,
from austere trees and dry brown bushes,
but Spring disturbs us like the morning,
and we may hope only for no October.

She (he) sees that I posted two threads, today, that asked questions about "black things". Ergo, I am a racist troll.
