Marvel Comics has unveiled a trailer for the upcoming 'Fear Itself' event.

The video contains some of the first images of Fear Itself #1, the core, seven-issue miniseries written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Stuart Immonen.

Details of the storyline have remained scarce, but it is known that it will see Marvel's greatest superheroes - including Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Spider-Man and the X-Men - battling their greatest fears, sent against them by the God of Fear itself.

Fraction recently revealed some details of the Red Skull's daughter, Sin, ahead of the upcoming event. More of her story is told in the trailer.

Marvel has also teased the character designs for American Panther, a new superhero emerging from the event with presumed links to Black Panther.

Fear Itself #1 will be released on April 6, with a free, digital-only tie-in The Worthy debuting on April 27.

i wish the annual (sometimes semi-annual) massive universe wide tie-in/crossovers would just go away already. They're a sales gimmick designed to get fans to buy more books, carried over from a time when books were quite affordable. They start publishing bi-weekly and carry the story in EVERY one of their titles now, with an average price of $3.50 a book now a days, it's ridiculous.

Most of the time the story is crap anyway. Can anyone say "Onslaught"?

^Agreed. Plus, even though you occasionally get some good stories out of the tie-ins (Siege had a few good ones, I thought), the crossover events just break up the creative momentum of most ongoing series. And Marvel and DC titles have very little creative momentum to spare these days.

I'm glad DC lowered the price of its 32-page comics from $3.99 to $2.99. As for Marvel, each new crossover event seems to pose another continuity problem.

Batman usually takes the Scarecrow out in one issue. Marvel heroes need seven whole months.

'Fear Itself' Creates American Panther

Marvel Comics has teased a new superhero emerging from the events of 'Fear Itself'.

The character design bears elements of both Black Panther and Captain America's costume and is thought to be a new iteration of the Wakandan hero.

According to Comic Book Resources, the publisher would reveal no details of the change other than to say that the 'Fear Itself' crossover would have a "huge impact" on Black Panther: The Man Without Fear.

The title is currently written by David Liss and illustrated by Francesco Francavilla, who also drew the American Panther teaser.

Black Panther recently took on the responsibilities of Daredevil following the events of the 'Shadowland' storyline which saw Matt Murdock corrupted by the criminal organization known as the Hand.

Marvel has been very secretive about its forthcoming 'Fear Itself' event, only recently revealing details about the story's antagonists.
