Tron Uprising Cartoon Series Coming in 2012

March 18, 2011

Tron: Uprising is a new animated science fiction TV series that will air on the Disney XD channel in 2012.

============================================
Tron: Uprising will be directed by Charlie Bean (Samurai Jack), Sean Bailey, and Joseph Kosinski, who helmed the recent Tron: Legacy feature film.

============================================
The series is set between the original 1982 Tron movie and recently released Tron: Legacy.
The Tron: Legacy DVD and Blu-ray releases, which are due on April 5th, will contain a preview of the Tron: Uprising series. Like the two Tron movies, Tron: Uprising is set inside the computer world of The Grid.
A ten-part Tron: Uprising miniseries will debut on Disney XD during the first half of 2012 while the main series will bow in September of 2012. Tron: Uprising features a stellar vocal cast that includes Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, Lance Hendriksen, Paul Reubens (Peewee Herman), Reginald Vel Johnson, and Bruce Boxleitner.
The Tron: Uprising animated series should keep the franchise, which has spawned comics (from Marvel & Slave Labor), books, and games, viable for the next few years.

Supposedly they're making a sequel to the last movie, as well. There's already a new short on the Blu-Ray.

The original was a great movie for it's time but the sequel was a huge pile of crap.

I'll give this a look just because Bruce Boxleitner is reprising his role as Tron again.

I just hope that they don't make another live action movie!!!

Should be not too bad as Samurai Jack was superb and the vocal talent on show look the business.
