also, when donating to an organization like Red Cross who can distribute the items to those in need, it has to be in bulk quantity (how much, I'm not sure) ~ I'm guessing to minimize shipping costs and other expenses [cleaning, etc.] http://www.redcross.org see Giving & Getting Involved, and/or plug your zip code into the box on the right to find a local Red Cross chapter that can help with a drive/collecting the donations.
