With all this rage on this thread, you'd think this would be discussion about the reboot of Star Trek. Trekkies were less upset about their reboot than the OP of this thread is about the remake of Arthur.
Well its a good thing I wasn't around here when that movie was released then. Or before it was released. Because I've written LITERALLY tens of thousands of words explaining why it was a bad idea to begin with and how badly it was executed at other sites. But I'm kinda over it now. I just pretend it doesn't exist. |

I agree that there are far, FAR too many remakes these days. There is absolutely no reason or excuse for it. However, once in a while, if they get them right, I really enjoy them. I'm not saying they're better, just, ya know, enjoyable. Some stories/movies do well with a modern update, and sometimes seeing an actor in a role you already loved is fun. Just think of it like a play, where completely different actors could play all the parts from one production to the next.
All the previews I've seen of this one actually make me laugh (and yes, I am a Russell Brand fan), so I guess I'm not as up in arms about it as some people. There does seem to be a good number of people upset about this one, too. But they announced it at least a year ago, so I'm surprised to see such a reaction now. I guess maybe a lot of people are just seeing previews and commercials for the first time.

Dude makes me laugh a whole lot more often than ANY American comedian I can think of right now. His jokes are quick and they live somewhere in between completely infantile and totally cerebral, which works PERFECTLY for me. I know a lot of people don't get him, though, because I've sat in a room and laughed hysterically while others did this I don't know, maybe its the British thing. I've been a pretty big fan of a lot of their comedy in my lifetime. |

Strangely, I despise Dr. Who with every fiber of my being. All versios of it. It looks bad cheap to me, which is an immediate turn off. |

I love Helen Mirren & Russell Brand, but I don't think I will tolerate the film due to Jennifer "The Human Mannequin" Garner's participation. |

What's next? A remake of Casablanca??
Nope. A remake of "Purple Rain" starring Jamie Foxx as The Kid and Beyonce as Apollonia. They will also remake the soundtrack, slow everything down to midtempo and update it shit hop style.
BLASPHEMY!!!
Vain just traumatized the hell out of me with that visual |

Sweetie and I actually got into an argument on the way home from the theater when we saw that. He liked it, I thought it was horrible. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |
