I just watched a commercial for Gain, and they used a "new" word, "Gooder". Something like..."If U want a gooder day, try Gain..." YUCK! Why do people insist on bastardizing our language?

it has quite a few meanings but can mean either of the following......

1 somebody who spits a lot

2 aperson of a gobshite persuasion

3 somebody who has a go or "gobs off" at people alot

4 aterm of endearment used in place of a person's real name; a nickmame.

Well, i'm a Brit, and i have never heard "gooder" being used for any of those things.

The only time i have ever heard "gooder" being used is in the phrase "do gooder," which basically means someone who helps a lot, someone who does the right thing.

As for bad English, take a look around the forums on the org, the internet generation have awful spelling, grammer and punctuation.

People whom English is not their first language at least have that as an excuse, the rest should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

I agree a certain amount of conservation is in order to retain the dignity of languages. But it sounds to me like the commercial writers were just having fun here. In no way do I imagine "good/better/best" is threatened by the playful "good/gooder/goodest."
