Today, I was forced to watch this:

rolleyes rolleyes

I kinda liked Hugh Grant's character/performance but that's all

ZombieKitten

3/5

It was OK, just not that rivetting lol Vincent Cassel had annoying greasy hair in the whole movie mad

3.5/5

This one was funny and compelling to the end. It bugged me that Mathilde Seigner frowned all the time, it did unflattering things to her mouth.

AND after watching these two movies, I've come to the conclusion that EVERYONE in France is a heavy smoker.

Was it really THAT bad? lol

I watched the low budget version of it ( there´s a film called Skyline, starring Eric Balfour, and I think either Sony or the studio got sued by the makers of Battle:Los Angeles for using the same kind of FX or equipment or something. Skyline was a shitty movie and I would have slapped myself if I had paid any money to watch it. It was basically a cheaper version of Tom Cruise´s War of the Worlds movie, and I didn´t really like that film to begin with).

It was horrible and I felt like I was just watching someone play those lame war video games.

.

.

yes...took my 12 year old son to see this...when it finished...i said to him it was a steaming pile of shit....and i still feel that.....crap and 20 quid down the pan....

The Tourist - Okay I have to admit, I liked it, it was cute, which is probably why folks didn't like it, too freakin' cute. Most people are accustom to more intensity in suspense movies especially from these two, Johnny being all swashbuckly and Angelina kicking azz and taking names. Here you had Angie prancing around (gorgeously so) being a well dressed well pampered lady of status scared to break a nail, and Johnny looking like a sweet innocent Billy Crystal through most of the movie. Chemistry between a totally glammed up Angie and a scruffy Billy Crystal ain't gonna work for most folks. Did he get a bit chunky for this movie? It was the change in the eyes at the end that he looked completely like himself and I said, ahhh, that's why I love him so, his ablity to be so subtle. I have to give it a 3/5 as a lazy, quiet (very quiet) day type of movie.

Yeah, I agree. It wasn't that much of a disappointment as a book adaptation, in my opinion.

star star star for an action flick. I really liked this. I'd never heard of it but I saw Wesley's name and decided to watch. A decent cast, plot twists, and I liked the ending. thumbs up!

I like Justine Waddell.

In Seattle, detective Quentin Conners is unfairly suspended and his partner Jason York leaves the police force after a tragic shooting on Pearl Street Bridge, when the hostage and the criminal die. During a bank heist with a hostage situation, Conners is assigned in charge of the operation with the rookie Shane Dekker as his partner. The thieves, lead by Lorenz, apparently do not steal a penny from the bank. While chasing the gangsters, the police team disclose that they planted a virus in the system, stealing one billion dollars from the different accounts, using the principle of the Chaos Theory. Further, they find that Lorenz is killing his accomplices.

True Grit. 3.5 /5. Good movie but not as moving as I'd hoped. "3:10 to Yuma" was better IMO.

Inception. 3 /5 I love Leo Dicaprio in almost every movie he's made (especially the Departed and Gangs of NY), but this one was just too predictable for me. Most people I asked had trouble following the plot, but I was just bored with it.

The Fighter. 4.5 /5. Much better than I had imagined. If you liked this movie, you'll probably like "The Wrestler" with Mickey Rourke, my favorite movie last year.

I can't stand any of the Bridget Jones movies. She is not a good actress and her English accent is just insulting, to say the least.

Fenwick

Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence - (1983) 3 out of 5

Stars David Bowie as an English POW in a Japanese camp during WWII. Very well acted. There was a powerful story in there somewhere, but it ultimately felt a little too disjointed. Didn't like the ending at all. (Not from a cheese factor standpoint it was just more of a non-event).

High Anxiety (1977) 3 out of 5

Mel Brooks tribute to Hitchcock. I imagine in 1977 this may have been extremely funny. Today, it had a few moments of good humor, (unsuprisingly they had Harvey Corman involved), but overall, not that great.

Robin Hood Men In Tights (1993) ZERO out of 5

Another Mel Brooks movie and all I can say is, wow, was this horrifically unfunny. Dave Chapelle and Cary Elwes in thankless rolls. There was one scene with Dom Deluise that was moderately funny. Otherwise, this simply could not end quickly enough. Rated - train wreck.

Make Way For Tomorrow - (1937) 3.5 out of 5

I rented this based on the movies that make you cry thread. It was most definitely poignant, depressing and well acted. I loved how they chose to go non-Hollywood on the ending and keep with what the story arc would really have happen. But I was never in the same zip code of shedding a tear. (And unlike that soul-less creature CallMeCarrie - I can definitely cry at a movie). Good but not great.

All About Eve (1950) - 4 out of 5

Bette Davis is an "aging" actress at 40 who becomes a bit paranoid about her young protege. If it weren't for the middle hour of this film that solely revolved around Bette Davis' character whining about everything under the sun, this movie might have been a five out of five. Just to much overkill trying to drive that point home. As it was, I really enjoyed this one quite a bit and was completely engaged though the second half of the movie.

Quite tense, good acting (I always find watching Al Pacino to be such a pleasure, and the cast in general was alright), but nothing that had a significant effect on me (apart from feeling a bit scared when I turned the tv off and went to bed!).
