Russell Brand's character was like Johnny Depp on Steroids. My daughter proceeds to explains to me how Russell Brand displays British comedy which is somewhat more upscale than regular american scripts.........

Watched it on DVD the other day. I had low expectations but I was in for a big surprise. This movie made me laugh so much that I had tears in my eyes. Very, very funny, and it has Eva Mendez in it.

Was it really THAT bad?

I watched the low budget version of it ( there´s a film called Skyline, starring Eric Balfour, and I think either Sony or the studio got sued by the makers of Battle:Los Angeles for using the same kind of FX or equipment or something. Skyline was a shitty movie and I would have slapped myself if I had paid any money to watch it. It was basically a cheaper version of Tom Cruise´s War of the Worlds movie, and I didn´t really like that film to begin with).

Yes, Natalie Portman was amazing in this. I am a long time Aronofsky fan (Requiem for a Dream-own it!) and he stays with his intese style and best sex scenes of any movie. The dude who played Natalies ballet instructor (Vincent Cassel) was brilliant and sexy as well. Winona Ryder, not so much...oh, and Barbara Hershey was SO convincing as the Psycho Mom!!

I liked it because it was very unusual, over the top, had totally unexpected jokes in it and because it reminded me of GTA IV. It was enjoyable to watch on DVD, and as I said above, my expectations were pretty low, and in the end, it had me in tears,laughing nonstop.

Why did you find it so unfunny and crass? Any particular reason?

I wouldn´t have gone to the movies to watch it, but it really made me laugh on a slow and relaxed weekend.

BLEAK but so real life, and sad and frustrating - life in Rumania.

The impossible fate of a student who is pregnant and wanting an illegal abortion. The corruption, the way people are forced to try and trick others, buying everything on the black market, queuing for hours to buy stuff. A real eye-opener

I watched Evan Almighty, which is a fantasy family movie, and thought it was okay as a kids movie. Didn't like the theological thing about it tho! Rated 3/5

I would give that 1.5 out of 5. disappointing

Yes, but it's a kids movie, and i think 3 out of 5 is fair....i also saw it just before going to bed...it was relaxing!!

definitely less disturbing than Pan's Labyrinth

I watched Pan's Labyrinth a year ago, and I thought it wasn't scary or disgusting. I thought it was a well made fantasy film. only later I found out it was about paganism, satanism etc...bla bla....but I mean who cares, i can't remember it being that what people make it to be.

It was horrible and I felt like I was just watching someone play those lame war video games.

I haven't rented it yet. I will tonight. I did watch the documentary Secrets of the Tribe. Sometimes...no--MANY times...I am ashamed to be part of the human race.

Let Me In - Im surprised I liked this very much, of course I've never seen the original so I can't compare. It to me had a lot of balance which seemed unusual in movies today to me 4/5

The Duchess - Sad, Worth a rewatch for me 3/5

Revolutionary Road - so freakin' sad Didn't hold my attention the first time around, but fully engrossed me the second time around 2.8/5

The Housemaid (2010) - Wealthy wife and her mother plot revenge against nanny for having an affair with the wife's husband.

I watched that movie today, and it is CRAP, don't even attempt to see it....I mean it's just another prison escape movie and it is lame...2 out of 5

we didn't know what it was about, we missed the first 5 minutes and didn't know the name of it, so we were trying so hard to figure out what was happening, and it was sooooo intriguing!

OMG, I love you Prince, I really do, but this movie was HORRIBLE!!!! I have to say I hate his hair and his 5 oclock shadow look during this period....the cheesiest!!
