Official Record Art

I've recently been consolidating my Prince collection on my computer using iTunes and it seems impossible to get art work for many of the Purple One's earlier releases, particularly the 12 inches. I've searched as much of the internet as I can but several still allude me. I'm looking for high quality scans of the his singles/12" releases from the 70s and early 80s.

I am not interested in fan made art or bootlegs or anything like that. Only in the actual covers of the actual records.

What does everyone else do about Album artwork on their computer? I feel I'll get into trouble with Prince for even asking this, but much of my collection is digital now, it's the choice I made, so I have to use the internet to get the images to make it all look cool in iTunes. (sorry)

Many thanks

p.s. sorry if such a thread already exists. I'm new to this whole internet game (!)

Honestly, I edit most ID3 tags and remove the artwork from the MP3s. And I never keep artwork in album or artist folders. I'm weird like that. I guess the artwork doesn't really matter for me unless its something I can hold in my hand.

Also, I don't use iTunes so I don't know exactly what you're looking for.

Also, I only use Yahoo. Sooo...

Do a Yahoo Image search for exactly what you are looking for. A lot of stuff is out there.

Do a search on multiple search engines for Prince album artwork or album covers and find pages with the images you need. I don't know of one all-inclusive site because I'm on a fairly new computer and didn't save my old bookmarks. But I think there's one out there that has pretty much everything. This one has a lot of them http://www.dtt-lyrics.com.../home.html But its not the one I was thinking of.

Search Amazon and Yahoo for the items you need - its possible that a pic may be included.

I had another suggestion but I've lost interest and forgot it now. lol

Oh yeah, I was going to say that some of the earlier covers, pre-1999, were just plain record sleeves or they were label sleeves. So an artsy pic may not be available for all of them.

Shoot, I meant search Amazon and EBAY for the items you need. A lot of people post pics of items when they sell them on ebay.

When looking for any album art, the first place I check is www.albumartexchange.com. If it isn't there then I usually scan the cover myself. If I don't have a physical copy to scan then I do a google image search. Discogs has many images too.

I love Discogs, but since the last format change about half of what they used to have listed has just up and vanished. I guess the users are still re-building the database.

now dear, cut the dude some slack.

he even comes right out and says he's new to this internet game. and at one time or another we are all newbies in the great, grand game of life. even you, yes, you.

like, remember the time i asked if you wanted to play 'go fish' and you showed up with a rod and line wearing a life vest, hip high rubber boots and a hat stuck full of various bobbles and lures? not that you weren't simply adorable and all, i just mention this as a reminder that we all start somewhere. hug
