AC 360 is basically saying that all 6 reactors are now in some form of crisis.

Dear Orgers,

Hi! I'm Tuna from Tokyo.
We wanna say, Thank you for your kindness and support.
I'm safe and alrigt.

Last Friday was so scary.
The ground was shake, and glass fell from the building.
train stopped and came home by foot for 3 hours.

food, toilet paper, a dry cell, gasoline disappeared from most shops.
For a 3-hour blackout, the train is suspended every day.

Prince plays twice in Sendai.
Lovesexy Tour 1989 and One Nite Alone Tour 2002.
There is affected by an earthquake and the tsunami.

However, we do our best with the warm message and cooperation of all.
Once Again, Thank you appreciated my purple friends!

They truly are. This footage made me bawl like crazy. I am still crying.

Actually I have just realized based on your comment, have you seen it? The dog is not looking after a human friend, but a dog friend. But the footage is so touching.

The way the nuclear reactors are structured, there is not going to be a mushroom cloud over the area like there was at Hiroshima or Nagasaki; it's only going to be small explosions of hydrogen gas at the site. But the real risk is that the reactor cores are going to be exposed to air and melt down into the ground while releasing radioactive gases into the air. The real threat right now is the release of radioactive material from the spent nuclear rods, whih are no longer useful to generate electricity but are still highly radioactive and will be that way for decades to come.

Because of the mess in Japan, people are looking at nuclear reactors in the U.S. How safe are they? Governor Cuomo wants a safety review of Indian Point Power Plant, only 35 miles north of NYC. And it resides on a fault line.

Not to alarm people on the West Coast, but my professor passed on information from a geologist she knows who is predicting an earthquake in California this weekend based on scientific evidence; he was only four days off on the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. Also, another scientist from Berkeley is predicting the same thing based on shifting of plates in the earth and animal behavior in the ocean and on the coastal areas. He was only one day off on the Loma Prieta earthquake. Also, the U.S. is moving all their military and federal personnel out of Japan and warning American civilians to evacuate because of the threat of nuclear pollution. The threat to Hawaii and the Pacific Coast of the U.S. from nuclear plants in Japan is real...not to mention the people of Japan, who I am praying for as well as us. Best to be prepared. neutral

You got that right! My friend is going to drive some of us to Foodco in the morning to buy some canned goods and water. I used to be up on that but then I became complacent. The recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan and the subsequent warnings for the Pacific Coast are sobering reminders not to become too complacent or live in denial of eventual natural diasasters... And unfortunately, I don't think that the state of California has done enough for disaster preparedness planning... I so vividly remember the 8.6 earthquake in 1989... So, I take these warnings from experts seriously. neutral

I can see how one can be complacent, years go by without anything happening but it's when you're not prepared that panic can set in. I'm semi-prepared with some food but recently have been eating my emergency food (instant noodles - they were over 6 months old) but good thing I bought Kitchens of India dishes that come in foil bags that you can boil in hot water to eat. They are better than canned food and no need for a can opener.

That's a great idea...but then you have to think about not having the ability to boil water if there is no power. In that case, canned food is essential. During the earthquake in 1989, we had no power to boil water or otherwise for a week. So, non-perishable food and water--enough for at least a week--is essential. Unless you have one of those gas camper stoves my Dad used to have! lol

The threat that you are talking about would "affect" all of the U.S. and Canada via the jet stream. But radiation that high is not a threat to anyone on the ground. But they won't say that on television. They will say increased radiation was detected over ____.

I don't expect any health effects in North America. Reactors can't explode like a thermonuclear bomb, so any radiation should be physically contained. I don't know what, now that they hydrogen tanks have exploded, could cause a large enough explosion to pulverize the rods into particle small enough to drift across the Pacific, through storms to affect North America in a serious health hazard way.

Fortunately, reactors have 'signatures' so the spread of any releases from these reactors can be determined.

I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

whut i said was highly un-informed...

but then it's not the first time.

as far as consperacies go, that reactor

is a perfect target for anyone with an

as far as radiation poisoning, it's a done deal.

now we get to hear whut they (goverments) feel

are acceptable amounts of radiation...

This is the best advice possible...obviously the "experts" at their best can't predict the inevitable. Gotta admit I was rattled enough to update my earthquake supplies. But, in the end, no one can predict an earthquake, no matter how knowledeable, just like no one can predict the "end of the world scenarios." In the end, we are all just animals, like all the others on this planet, subject to the vagaries of nature. There is no such thing as control. And we, the arrogant human asses that we are, need to realize that! razz lol

Even Japan’s infamous mafia groups are helping out with the relief efforts..

The worst of times sometimes brings out the best in people, even in Japan’s “losers” a.k.a. the Japanese mafia, the yakuza.

Hours after the first shock waves hit, two of the largest crime groups went into action, opening their offices to those stranded in Tokyo, and shipping food, water, and blankets to the devastated areas in two-ton trucks and whatever vehicles they could get moving.

The day after the earthquake the Inagawa-kai (the third largest organized crime group in Japan which was founded in 1948) sent twenty-five four-ton trucks filled with paper diapers, instant ramen, batteries, flashlights, drinks, and the essentials of daily life to the Tohoku region.

An executive in Sumiyoshi-kai, the second-largest crime group, even offered refuge to members of the foreign community—something unheard of in a still slightly xenophobic nation, especially amongst the right-wing yakuza.

There was a 6.8M earthquake around the Burma/Laos border yesterday night, apparently. I've read that buildings shook all the way down here in Bangkok. I'd never notice though as they're building a new skytrain route nearby and our house shakes a lot anyway. 11 killed, as far as I know. sad It is related to the earthquake off Japan's eastern shore.
