Cool. I may try to stop in myself this week and donate. I haven't done so in a few years, and I really don't have any reason not to. I have a blood donation center right there at work. I could do it during a break.

My class is coming together to make origami cranes so one of our classmates has them to take with her when she goes to Japan.
This true story is of a girl, Sadako Sasaki, who lived in Hiroshima at the time of the atomic bombing by the United States. She developed leukemia from the radiation and spent her time in a nursing home creating origami (folded paper) cranes in hope of making a thousand of them. She was inspired to do so by the Japanese saying that one who created a thousand origami cranes would then be granted a wish. Her wish was simply to live. However, she managed to fold only 644 cranes before she became too weak to fold any more, and died shortly after. Her friends and family helped finish her dream by folding the rest of the cranes, which were buried with Sadako. They also built a statue of Sadako holding a giant golden origami crane in Hiroshima Peace Park.
Now every year on Obon Day, which is a holiday in Japan to remember the departed spirits of one's ancestors, thousands of people leave paper cranes near the statue. On the statue is a plaque: "This is our cry. This is our prayer. Peace on Earth." 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Now Supa, you know better than that. To assholes like Glenn Beck and ilk, the only good Christians are Christians that look just like them. To hell with everybody else whether they also happen to be Christian or not.
That is why I have such a problem with organized religion. They consist of entirely too many so called practitioners, that preach one thing, yet practice something else entirely.
It just boggles my mind and saddens my heart! I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

My husband's father started spouting that bile. Hubby was telling me what he said and I flipped my lid! It is outrageous! The holier-than-thou mentality. Seriously, I have words, believe me, but to express them...can't even begin. That "Christians" would raise an ill thought towards the people of Japan...It shows who is truly lost. I'm firmly planted in denial
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
The thing that gets me is...if people like that really believed the vile that they spew...they wouldn't spew it to begin with because they'd know that they'd surely reap what they've sown. So there's no way they could possibly truly believe in it.
They simply believe in what they want to believe. They don't see their hypocrisy...at all!

The situation is getting all out catastrophic at the nuclear plant.

Workers evacuate stricken nuclear plantSetback as Japan struggles to contain spiraling nuclear crisis
FUKUSHIMA, Japan — Workers at a quake-damaged atomic power plant suspended operations and evacuated Wednesday after a surge in radiation made it too dangerous to remain there, dealing a setback to Japan’s frantic efforts to stem a nuclear crisis.
"All the workers there have suspended their operations. We have urged them to evacuate, and they have," Japan's chief cabinet secretary, Yukio Edano said, according to a translation by NHK television.
Edano said that a surge in radiation Wednesday morning meant workers were unable to continue even minimal efforts at the stricken nuclear plant.

Well the 50 workers that were just evacuated have been there for 24 hours after they evacuated the other 750 from the plant. Im sure they have already been exposed to high levels of radioactivity. Seems now the owners of the plant are basically saying there' nothing else they can do. The Government is already pissed and this company has a long history of hiding the truth about other problems they have had in the past.
