Hello fellow orgers... biggrin

I have to ask.

Do you find a woman with brains appealing? Women with college degrees or studying in university? Women in high positions in their careers...or even women who are just smarter than average.

Are you intimidated by a a smart woman? How do you feel around one?

Discuss sexy

[Edited 3/10/11 22:15pm]

hard to get a word in edgeways if they're that smart. my ex is a heavy drinking postdoctoral researcher now, absurdly well paid, but at the same time immensely patronising, bipolar, and at least twice this lady's age. I.C.P and C.

FauxReal

When I meet the women that are studying or already completed degrees I'm not so much impressed by their intelligence as I am their drive.

Indeed.

And true intelligence has nothing/very little to do with (high) education. It's way more complex and lifeful. But so many people can't see that.

It's true. Sounds like a cliché, but I've truly met some of the dumbest people I know in grad school; and some of the most brilliant wasting away on street corners. confused

...Now, which of the two groups is wiser (a matter of application) is another discussion.

My dear father (who started a successful business on a high school diploma) calls such people "educated beyond their intelligence."

There are a lot of them in Madison.

Any problem with women who don't cook?

Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity

I love intellectual women, who on one side do have that simple, sheer, feminine, breath-taking, lady-like, stunning beauty, but on the other side possess the necessary intelligence to come up with brilliant ideas, to be an inspiration, to be funny, smart, to think out of the norm and have a world-view of their own, without being one of those pseudo-intellectual, men-hating feminists or career-obsessed, nothing-else-matters, pseudo-tough suit women that look like and behave like barrater-grannies in their mid-twenties already.

So, to put it short: In my eyes, a woman can not be beautiful without being intelligent and I simply love challenging intellectualness in a woman, but I could not care less about diplomas and degrees and am not at all impressed by a stunning career (of a woman or a man, for that matter), because it usually simply shows that they are hard-working, persistent and that they don't think about many different things than their career.

nod Career-obsessed people are a complete turn-off. The most shallow beings I ever met...

For me it's all about personality and kindness, some smart and some not so smart people have that but, I have to be honest too, I have this girl working at my place and she's very intelligent, studied at University and she's just different compared to the other girls. Very normal though, not a snob and yes it tickles me that she's smart. The way she reacts on things and the way she handles things, you just notice that she got brains, she's different than others and I like that. But I could have the same appreciation for men, if they're not arrogant.

I can't say I feel intimidated by intelligent persons, I actually have that more with people who aren't that smart, they seem to have developed more in the smart-ass area, they always seem to find a way to make you look silly so they don't attract attention themselves, very annoying.

And hmmm nobody seems to be intimidated by me lol

This is true of some of my labmates -- many of whom have entitlement issues. My father is extremely intelligent, but he only finished his adult equivalent of high school several years ago and works as a janitor. When he me my teachers in high school and profs in university, they all noted how articulate and well versed he was on many different subjects.

There are a lot of people like that. They may actually be quite book smart but emotionally vapid. As someone once told me, you may run into someone who is well versed in the history of aviation, yet you wouldn't want that person to book a flight anywhere. jet Sure, I'd love to have a woman who is stunningly beautiful and sexy, but I want someone I can have a decent conversation with at the end of the day as well. I don't want someone who is so self-absorbed that they ignore what is happening around them or only cares when things affect them personally.

BTW, here's a tale of two ladies who are smart enough to be members of Mensa.

This sexy Latin pop singer has an IQ of 140. She can speak several languages and in addition to being a stunning pop singer, she is a humanitarian as well.

Then there's this woman. She was an extremely talented child prodigy who taught English as a second language classes to Japanese students at age 16, played piano at Carnegie Hall at age 15, and won a full scholarship to Rutgers University at age 17, and she became an official member of Mensa. However, she ran away from home after being stifled by parents, got into drugs and alcohol and eventually landed into porn.

http://www.asiacarrera.com/bio2.html

She claims that her parents were unduly strict and abusive, and she has had a history of being in abusive relationshps as an adult. so having inteligence isn't everything if one is emotionally damaged. sigh disbelief

True that. Being emotionally damaged leads to rejection by the others. sad
