It's pancake day!

woot!

Who's making pancakes?

What kind?

What are you serving with them?

I think I'm gonna make banana pancakes. With butter and maple syrup. And I'm gonna make a tropical fruit salad on the side.

I'm pancaked out... made some yesterday... chocolate chip. And always from scratch with buttermilk.

I don't like maple syrup on my pancakes anymore... now I just dust them lightly with confectioner's sugar...

I love pancakes though... I better mark this on my calender so I don't miss pancake day! biggrin

Is it the same day every year? Or is it like Earth Day?

But pancake filling variations I've done...

strawberry

blueberry

raspberry/banana

almonds

banana+nutmeg

peaches

applesauce/cinnamon

and (on top or on the side of pancakes) pears topped with chocolate sauce... I toast the pear halves with butter, rum, and brown sugar.

Its the perfect excuse for eating bacon pig

I think I'll make pancakes for dinner now hmmm

ooh! That pear concoction sounds awesome. I may have to rethink my plan.

Pancake day is Shrove Tuesday (Fat Tuesday), the day before Ash Wednesday, so it's different every year.

Every year, I say I'm going to organize a pancake race at work - and then I forget. pout

You could use any pear. My sister and older son like to add some whipped cream also. nod I just stick to the chocolate sauce.. makes great filling for crepes (sp?) too.

and thanks for the info. biggrin

I forgot all about it. My kids ate at their grandparent's house tonight and she made them pancakes, which i'm so relieved about. I hate the thought of my kids missing out on little things like that.

I like my pancakes with lemon juice and sugar. drooling

I've totally changed my whole plan. smile

I'm going to do the pears to top the pancakes with and instead of fruit salad on the side I'm going to roast some potatoes and carrots with onion, garlic and rosemary.

Yay!

That's my favorite way to have a crepe. Simply squeeze on juice from a lemon and sprinkle with a bit of sugar. drool

Omg, it was perfect.

Since I’m counting calories (and pancakes are already a lot) I tossed the pears in a bit of fresh lemon juice, 1 tsp of raw sugar and a bunch of cinnamon and let them sit for about 30 minutes and then poached them in a bit of water. I know it would be better with rum and butter and such, but that will have to come when I’ve lost another 25 pounds and can “afford” it.

No matter, my bf LOVED the pears. biggrin And so did I!
