How long would it live in a container and how much fruit would u get from it tho? I know some stuff wont make it outside if not in the ground.
I plan to trim it back every year (or few times if need be) once it reaches a certain size.
It wasn't in my original plan because there used to be some in the back of our Philly house but I hated that they had thorns (this bush is thornless) but the roomie was dying for one so I didn't wanna be a bitch.

it will kill off everything around it... fruits only grow from soft canes - one year old to two year old braches... oh and if a tip of a branch touches the ground... NEW BUSH! If a berry falls and hits the dirt...NEW BUSH! and if you move it and leave a bit of root in the dirt.. yup..... NEW BUSH!!!
you'll have more blackberry than dandelions.
you are in a warmer zone7 you can get berries easily from a container plant. Its evasive and a bitch to control once established.
Oh and did I mention the thorns? Um yeah.... container! Trimming it is a bitch. |

I can't grow a garden, even tough I want to. I live in an apartment complex, and my main windows face north, so I don't get any direct sunight.
This makes me sad, because I grew up in a house that used to have pear trees in my backyard, plus I had rhubarb plants growing wildly along my back fence. And my grandmother had a trellis on the side of her house which faced south, so she grew a cucumber vine on it.

It's thornless variety. I read in a few places that non-wild types are less invasive and easier to handle (I do realize I'd have to keep it trimmed back). In a container the canes can still touch the ground. The patio doesn't get full sun (just part) so the pot would have to be out in the yard. |

I look like I've spent the day making mud pies but got lots done in the garden. The rest of the peas are planted, radishes, and asparagus. I also cleaned my front flower beds and picked some daffodils to put around the house.
Now, time for a shower and make some chicken on the grill. |

Keep it in a container, well trimmed. You have to trim them anyways to get lots of berries.
In the ground it will spread too much, it'll just be too much work. It will not die in the container out in the yard in the winter. You should be fine.
Thornless?! Its about damn time they hybridized one!
Blackberries that are homegrown are always sweeter. |

I love days like that.
Spent all day cleaning up the front. Laying down weedblock and mulching over it. Not gonna do much out front this year since we have so much we want to do in the "living" spaces in back. I wanna tweak some stuff but it looks nice enough that just tidying up will be fine for now.
Also planted red onions, shallots, garlic today. |

I'm dead tired but a good feeling. I've conned by step daughter into starting the mulching for me this week. She needed $$ to pay a speeding ticket and there is so much to mulch.
I've never tried to grow garlic. I love it so maybe I will try it this year. We are planting potatoes on Good Friday since it is a tradition in hubby's family. Late this year but it's been so wet here lately.
I'm ready for my lilac bushes to start blooming. Love that fragrance! |

dude...hop online and see if there is a nearby community garden. Its not your yard, but at least you can still get your hands dirty and enjoy the fruits of your labor. question... has anyone planted mint from seed? I planted spearamint seeds in a pot in my house and I want to know how long they take to sprout.
Oh I also planted stevia seeds also... nothing yet, its been a like what 4 days?
can't plant outdoors until a few more weeks... zone 6 blues.

Here's the Roma tomato seedlings. Do I need to separate these now?
I feel guilty for the ones I pull out. I was gonna put them in the yard this weekend. Or are they too small still?

I am going to the nursery this weekend to get my seedlings! I might try to grow a few things from seed, but last year that didn't work very well so I'm cheating this year.
I wonder if I can grow tomatoes on my balcony...is it hard to grow them? The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp. |

They have tomatoes specifically for growing in pots.
I'm doing a combo of baby plants and from seed.
