Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - LSD Can anybody tell me what it's like? I've read some articles on the internet, but I'd like to hear some stories or experience from orgers. Kill All Hipsters

For me it confirmed what Freud was talking about. You have this conscious level of thought that we are normally aware of. But there is a subconscious level of thought that is more of a rushing stream of thoughts. Acid gets you in touch with the faster stream of subconscious thoughts.
It makes you conscious of your subconsious.
In a way this is like dreaming while awake, but the misconception is that you hallucinate or see thingns that are not there, or are not in touch with reality. That was not the case for me. I was totally aware of normal reality, but my brain was making connections quickly and forming creative associations, both visual and thought oriented. So something visual might spark other visual associations, but it was not really hallucinations.
The thoughts form a rhythm almost. Listen to the Beatles Revolution 9 for a clue, or maybe On the Run from Dark Side of the Moon.
The feeling is not totally pleasant. It felt like crazy chemicals were running through my body. I was also aware of the feeling of weakness in my joints. There was a weird sensation in my mouth, like a taste, but not quite a taste. It goes on forever, and you will crave normalcy after a while.
What you come away from the experience is some revelations about your life/the world due to the intense level of thoughts over the course of hours.
It was a great experience, but at this point I would not do it again. I am more fearful of permanent damage. My Legacy

Thanks for reply. May I ask how many times did you try it? Were you alone? How much did you take (the whole "paper")? How long did it last, any flashbacks? Kill All Hipsters

I did it 3 times. I was alone at certain times, but not alone for the whole time, thank god! You might go crazy without someone to talk to, someone to distract you at those moments that your thoughts just won't stop.
I took a single dose each time (tab or sugar cube), but the strength can vary wildly. You never really know what you are getting with illegal drugs, do you?
It lasted like 12 hours, but you feel weird the next day too. Best to have a day of rest after, especially since you can end up staying up all night. It's impossible to fall asleep until it wears off.
No I never had a flashback. But I see the homeless guys on Telegraph avenue here at Berkeley, and I think that is part of why I would never do it again. I think some people never come back from that place.
I remember thinking that if the acid trip never stopped, it would probably turn into schizophrenia. Not cool. My Legacy

I only took paper acid once and i thought it was quite mild, so i never took that variety again. We used to obtain LSD in little bottles, with a dripper attached to the bottle cap, you would unscrew the cap and let the LSD drop (only once, twice if you could handle it) onto your tongue. The feelings (with liquid LSD) could be felt almost at once, a minute or so after taking it, sometimes less. The feeling would increase quite quickly, till you reached a "peak," and this could last for hours, depending on the strength of your goods. The journey to your peak could be quite unpleasant, sweating, feeling weak, and depending on where you were and who you were with, paranoia. I used to take LSD for one thing only, to see hallucinations, and the stuff we managed to get was incredible. I'm talking looking to the night sky (we always took acid at night) and seeing a massive orange moon, stars and shooting stars like you would not believe, purple streaks in the night sky, just amazing visuals. While all this is going on, the feelings (if you are having a good trip) i experienced were total europhoria, at times uncontrollable laughter for little or no reason whatsoever, and being super aware of everything around you. Your senses are very very accute. Depending on your surroundings, hallucinations would come and go, they probably only lasted seconds, but seemed to linger (for me). Slow motion, super quick tracers, distorted noise, traffic, trees etc. The darker it was the better the visuals imo. We used to go camping in the woods on the outskirts of the city, and just see the most incredible visuals and colours. Listening to music was just amazing too, it took me to another world. When i stopped taking LSD and began my rocky road on other drugs, the liquid LSD began to be very hard to find (at least in our area). In it's place was acid called "black micro dots," they were as the name inplies, a tiny black ball, very difficult to handle, but very strong, not liquid LSD strong, but very nice, better than paper tabs.

Your pupils get very dialated with acid, I wondered if this contributed to any of the tracers or other visual effects My Legacy

Indeed, the pupils dialate with all hallucigenic drugs.

I actually prefered mushrooms to LSD, a much cleaner trip imo.

Mushrooms are more pleasant and sensual and natural feeling, but not as many tangible revelations that I could put into words afterwards.
Given the choice today I would not do either, but I would definitely do mushrooms over acid My Legacy

not me paper trips you can dose mushrooms not | |

i used to do it a lot , for about 2 years (paper trips) i'd sometimes even do it upto 3 times a week and a few times i used it together with X (what was i thinking ? then all of a sudden i just realized i've had enough of it and quit , 8 years ago or so (same goes for X)
colours and music are more intense nature is more intense feelings are more intense thoughts are more intense it makes you think about your life and everything else more intensely and you feel as if you're one with nature and the cosmos
patterns in carpets and curtains appear to be moving slightly etc but i never to took so much i'd actually hallucinate and see things that weren't there (i always wanted to be in control of my behaviour) all in all they were nice experiences

There is no way to say for certain. Everyone will have a totally different experience, despite experiencing similarities with the build up etc.
I would say, don't try it, but if you really do want to, then i would advise doing it within a small group of people that you really trust. Also, try and do it in an area that you can walk around in in relative safety, avoid places that are too busy. I also (personally) did not like tripping indoors, i always felt the need to get out of the house, at least until i began to come down, then it is nice to go back to your room, get some candles on, and listen to some cool music. Finally, try doing it at night, if it is good quality stuff then the night sky will look like you have never seen it before. Above all, if you do take it, try not to think about Huxley, Freud and all that jumbo, and try not to worry, just go with the flow, and enjoy.

Ahh ok, well in that case, i would advise him to give it a miss. I am talking about my experinces on LSD which was very strong stuff mind you, i have no idea how potent stuff is these days, it could be weak enough for him to have a great time, nothing too heavy. If it it is a tab he is thinking of taking, he could always (very carefully) cut the tab in two, and only take half, this would be a nice gentle introduction. But if it's the full blown howz yer mother experience he is after, then he needs to take the full thing, maybe even two depending on their strength.

He came to my place and said "I met one guy in the place where I moved to, we're friends and he's offered me LSD...do you want to try it with me?". I've never done drugs, which is quite difficult when you're a musician on tour and I told him that I'd never do that as long as I'm with my wife. But he's my best friend so I would want to at least be with him during his experience, just for case he won't get hurt. Kill All Hipsters

I agree. To date it remains the most pleasant and wonderful experiences I've ever had with an Entheogen. I'm off to the other side of the planet in 2012 for a few weeks with a tribe for some shamanic experiences. I've been thinking about posting about it here for some time.
Maybe I will tomorrow. | |

I have said enough on the subject now, good idea you being with him, but i would still try and talk him out of it. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

why would you not take the stuff again? small circles, big wheels!

I had big troubles with drugs after my LSD phase, so, given the choice again, i would not touch anything at all. But LSD never really gave me any troubles, aprt from the usual feeling rather spacey the following day.

I had a bad experience with Extacy, and it made me leery of all manufactured drugs, and with no desire to do natural ones either (except a beer or two), even though my experiences with acid & mushrooms were good.
I came to realize that acid might be most likely harmless, but you are always taking a chance with your mental health when you mess with your brain. Even temporary changes can be a nightmare (for months at a time, in my case)
But there are lots of times in life you need to take chances. It's up to everyone to decide for themselves when. [Edited 3/8/11 13:26pm] My Legacy

Extasy was brilliant in the early to mid 90's, £20 a shot, almost pure MDMA, then as popularity in the drug grew and grew (in my part of the UK), the quality dipped considerably, along with the prices. People began dying and there was a ton of shit press about it all (at least here in the UK). A young girl in her teens (if i remember) died from a bad E, her mother made the very brave decision to publish a picture of her daughter moments from death in the UK press. That picture shocked a lot of us in our group, and not long after that we stopped doing E, i'm sure that picture had the same effect on a lot of people across the UK. By that time you were getting E for £1, and it was just shit, it contained almost no MDMA and was just a mix of bad quality speed, acid and god knows what else.
