Generations I'm still very much adjusting to the fact that...I am a Grandmother.
I've already zipped through so many emotions, rationalizations and denials...it ain't even funny but this picture I just received of my Granddaughter Marle'ja in the arms of her Great-Great-Grandmother on her mother's side...

just stopped me...cold in my tracks and took my very breath away!
My Great-Great-Grandparents on both sides of my family...never got the chance to hold me, see me or even know that I existed. I just realized after seeing that picture...that there is something very humbling and extremely sad about that to me.
So Orgers, here's something new...that I think may be very good and interestingly thought-provoking...for us all. Let's celebrate/photowhore/storywhore our lives/selves...through the generations!

Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful granddaughter! She is precious! I was blessed to know all my great-grand parents, but my kids only knew my paternal grandmother. As for pictures, I'll have to see if I can actually get them to post. I have 3 adorable grandsons. I'm firmly planted in denial |

Stories will do well on this thread...as I don't have a single picture of the only Grandparent of mine, I've ever met on both sides. My Grandmother...my Mother's Mother was one of the most influential people responsible for me being the me that I am and I adore telling her stories. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart. | |

In many ways, she's the woman I strive to be. The other woman is my mom. Many women don't want to be their mother, but I think my mom is wonderful, so that's never been the case for me.
