My sweet doggy died just a few hours ago. He was 12 years old and very sick. I can't stand it. How am I supposed to handle that? sad I can't stop crying and thinking about him ;( It was just yesterday when I saw him and now he's gone ;( I don't know what to do with my life now ;(

I'm sorry Julia. Pets never judge us and are quick to forgive. They really can be your best friend.

hug I'll say a special prayer for you...as you did for me. rose

Thank you, Sandra rose

sad hug I have lost pets in the past too, and I know how much it hurts. It's so hard losing a beloved pet. As someone else said, try to stay busy. It won't take away the hurt of losing your sweet dog, but it will keep your mind occupied, and you won't have as much time to think about it.

The Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

Edited to say that I can NEVER read The Rainbow Bridge poem without crying. cry cry It's so touching. mushy

hug I know how you feel, but have your good cry and keep him in your heart forever. Wait as long as it takes and then adopt a new baby, preferably from a shelter.

That really is a beautiful poem Psychodelicide. I've never lost a pet but I can only imagine how bad it hurts. I couldn't deal because i'm really emotional. But I sympathize a great deal with anyone who ever has so thanks for sharing. It's a beautiful way to look at an animal's after-life.

Ugh, so sorry. I can't even imagine losing my little Olly. I could cry just thinking about it.

In time maybe get another dog? They really bring so much joy...

Hope you feel better soon.

sad Sorry for your loss. I remember how I felt when my family's dog passed.

1 thing that helped me was gathering all the pics we took of her from over the years and making a photo album biggrin With each pic, I remembered all the good and fun times we shared with our beloved dog. smile
