my computer speakers broke. when i ordered this computer in july of 2009 i didn't get speakers. i was using my old ones from the first orginal computer from 1999

i bought new speakers and they aren't working right. i hear the windows beep and system sounds. i can play a cd thru the computer or itunes mp3. I HAVE NO SOUND ONLINE. youtube. facebook videos, websites like mtv,abc and fox for full tv shows are all mute?

someone suggested the soundcard. i've ran every diagnostic test i can find. they all say my speakers are fine and the drivers are all up to date. i just got off of live chat from dell tech support and he assured e the soundcard is fine cause i would no sound at all if it was that.

i watch alot of tv shows online off channels i dont have, stream movies alot too. i missed fringe this week cause i went to nyc friday night.

any suggestions?

i got 3 yr limited warranty for this thing...at home service. dell gave me a software # to call

should i try another brand of speakers? these are logitech from target. i can check best buy and walmart amogst other places

i wouldn't say i am really but this might help ;

have you somehow disabled 'play sounds from websites' etc in internet explorer options

(advanced settings) ?

or you might've muted the volume control for 1 specific controller under 'sound'

interesting. i guess that would be internet options? idk when i look at volume cobtrols it says speakers,windows sounds,itunes and google chrome. all separate. all on 100%. not muted...

i don't use internet explorer. i should probably try that browser

i cant get internet explorer to work. always freezes up. doing it now. i switched from mozilla firefox to gogle chrome cause that would freeze up alot too
