But I still hate the yellow beading. hmph! I think it might be a really stunning accent if it were a rich blue or black velvet.

highfive

I think it caught my attention most because it actually was a design rather than being another pretty dress.

I must say, though, that I'm only recently understanding the dress is lilac (which, in combination with yellow, seems absolutely vomitrocious ill). I was beginning to warm toward it largely because I thought it was white.

Here are some closer shots...

And the story also says itwas lilac: http://www.stylebistro.co...hy+Couture

Also, now that I've seen the back, I officially hate the dress again. (Which means I'll probably love it in the morning. disbelief)

What's funny is that it definitely has struck folk. People seem either to love it or hate it. It seems to be one of the most -- if not the most -- talked about gowns from last night.

I hadn't seen the back. Atrocious. disbelief

It's no secret that James Franco is getting universally trashed for his work as Oscar cohost.

The 127 Hours star seemed so disconnected, sluggish and bored by the festivities that there's much speculation that he was stoned during the telecast.

So did Mr. Franco pull a Pineapple Express and smoke up for the Academy Awards? And what about that new report claiming that Franco and Anne Hathaway hate each other? Here's the truth...

TWITTER: Follow Marc Malkin

Franco was not under the influence on Sunday. "James does not drink or do drugs ever," his rep tells me.

Several sources (who have no reason to spin me) confirm that Franco is not a partier.

He was "exhausted" because he had spent several weeks flying back and forth from the East Coast to L.A. to rehearse on weekends. By the time Sunday rolled around, one source said, "he was going on 20-hour days four days in a row."

OSCAR PHOTOS: Check out Marc's twitpics from the red carpet

It's certainly not the first time someone assumed Franco was a stoner. It almost cost him 127 Hours.

"I wasn't sure at first," 127 Hours director Danny Boyle told me in October about casting Franco. "We met him and he was so relaxed—he looked stoned to me. People say that about him. But he's not. In fact, he's abstemious."

As for the Us Weekly report that he and Hathaway grew to "hate each other" during Oscar rehearsals, reps for both insist there's no animosity between the two. While they may not have become best buddies, one source insists "they're friends."

Hathaway's rep says, "Anne adores James and had a wonderful time hosting the Oscars with him."

Does Hugh Jackman want to return as host? Come back here later on to find out.

I feel bad for Franco. He's been keeping up with a doctoral program, additional graduate courses at any number of other schools, an acting career and preparing for the Oscars! faint He's not stoned; he's fried!

But I can see how Anne might have rubbed him all the wrong ways. She totally comes off as a blatant phoney balony. Of course, I only can come to this conclusion from just seeing her host the show and a couple of interviews after it but I found her incredibly annoying and fake. If he's uber laid back, I'd imagine her forced obnoxious goofball personality would be hard to deal with.

I saw Anne on Oprah. I didn't think she came off fake so much as ditsy. But, yeah, I did also wonder if Franco sort of sat back and coasted during the show because she seems to take up sooo much space. I too imagine she could be draining.

I don't believe Anne had to do with it as much as it was probably him being busy/exhausted and relying strictly on what the show had planned for him (as he'd stated in the Daily Show a few weeks earlier), which I could imagine even that he couldn't totally focus on with all the crazy back & forth traveling. they were great together though in that Inception spoof they showed at the opening.

btw, according to him, when he first learned about the Oscars wanting him to host he got scared and nearly said no, but then his team told him no so he said yes lol

"what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

I dont blame Frank or Anne as much as I blame the writers who arent talented or bored with doing the same show for the last 15 years. Bruce Valanich needs to take a break from the Oscars.
