The Nicholas Brothers' famous routine from Stormy Weather and other great dance performances

When my mom realized I enjoyed dancing when I was younger, she practically educated me on the dancers of the past. I grew up with James Brown, MJ, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Sammy Davis Jr., and The Nicholas Brothers as some of my heroes biggrin

I've seen this performance several times but it STILL amazes me. This guys were LEGENDARY

RIP to Harold and Fayard worship

Awesome! The spins the brother on the left made at 1:14 of the first clip are incredible. And the finish - ouch, my groin hurst just watching that!

Those are great!

I love Fred's routines with Ginger. They had an unbelievable chemistry, and Bill Robinson is sooo underrated. He's never really gotten his due

today's generation is missing out on alot. Fred Astaire is just one of my favorite performers. there's a really cool cd called "fred astaire sings" on verve records that's just so cool to listen to.

did you know that Bill Robinson didn't use his heels when he danced?..he just used his toes, which made him unique

They really are, that's why I appreciate my mother teaching me about the legends. She's a huge fan of movies from the 30s and 40s so she had me watch movies like Stormy Weather at a very early age

Really? I would expect that from GD, but the Lesson? a lot of those guys are hanging on Prince's nuts by their jaws lol

but looking at some orgers' opinions on hip hop here, I see why they have that feeling lol

The Org doesn't have a really good image neutral but it looks like you've settled in there. Now you can read the mistermaxx unfiltered! lol

I've always been in total awe of great dancers.

I'm hopelessly uncoordinated. sigh

Fred Astaire in Royal Wedding (start about a minute in)...

Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse in Singin' in the Rain...

Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron in An American in Paris (music by George Gershwin)...

Fred and Ginger again - this time on rollerskates. And not good, modern skates, either. The old-fashioned kind with metal wheels, that you clamped onto your own shoes using a skate key.
