it's the copy-protection circuit on the VCR. try one of the RF modulators instead...

Yep. You're gonna have to find some other way to connect your Playstation to the TV -- NOT thru the VCR.

(sigh) I ran into this problem when I bought my wife a DVD player for her birthday. To make things worse, I had one of those TV/VCR combo units, and all of the input jacks went through the built-in VCR. Hence, there was no way around the problem, and so I wound up buying a new TV. That was an expensive birthday. sad Oh well, we moved up from a 20" TV to a 27" TV, and I sold the TV/VCR for $100 (still only 1/5 of what I paid for it back in 1995).

Actually, there are devices that will remove copy protection. I think they're sold as "picture enhancers"--some folks claim that copy protection harms the picture, even when you've got everything hooked up the right way. But it seems to be something of a "nudge nudge wink wink" thing--I think most people who buy these things are doing it either to avoid the original poster's problem or make illegal copies. smile
