BlackAdder7	.rar. file converter can anyone recommend a free downloadable program that will convert an RAR file to an MP3 file? thanks!

hmm I am NO expert on this stuff but I think extract frog will do it....or maybe that will only extract...err I dunno. sorry. smile

a rar file is a compressed version of just a portion of almost any kind of file (video, audio, pdf, text) , not just audio. So if you have a rar file, you would have to uncompress it and rejoin it with the other rar files in its set to see what it is, and then if it's sound, you could use another program to make it into an MP3.

Poiple	WinRAR. Easy as shit. Just double click on the file you want to extract, then save it where you want. For audio, I then convert with Winamp if need be. [Edited 2/18/11 11:02am]

Rars are container files that have been compressed and/or split up from larger folders or files. They can be split into an infintite number of .rar files to make up one folder or file when re-combined.

Think of rars in the same way you would a .zip file. The big difference is that a rar'd selection can be split into smaller, multiple files making the uploading of large CDs or DVDs more manageable.

To recombine them, you will need certain software. Sometimes you need a password to open the rars, so be sure to look for this before downloading and take note. When using your un-rar utility to re-combine the files, you only need to select the first rar of the set to start the expansion process (they will have numbers associated with them if there are more than one. Choose #1). Selecting more than one rar for expansion may give odd results. You must have all of the rars compiled in one location in order to un-rar. A missing rar will make the combination of files impossible. You can throw the rar set in the trash once the process is completed and the combined file is intact (this combined file will be wherever you choose in your un-rar utility options).
