While visiting IBM's developer's corner - I saw 1 female on that side of the divider. 
I know what I experienced merely going for a 2-year programming degree. As a female, I was basically looked at as a showpiece...hardly anyone took the female programmers seriously in my experience in college. I have no doubt in my that this type of mayhem gets even worse as you climb up the educational ladder. I'd bet money that it's the same in the hiring practices within the IT industry. A female is applying, like she knows anything more than typing and filing... in the trash goes the resume
Too bad I didn't know about all this before I wasted 2 years...  Now, now, stop it. It's true that you're a rare bird in a hostile environment. But a waste? No...lots of places will discriminate in your favor, and you might even consider creating a service on the web that is 100% yours. I did...fuck employers... Fear is the mind-killer. | |

I'm actually trying to create a program for my neice's cleaning busines...if she'd just get me the information I need to build the basics of what she needs - but she has been busy. You wouldn't believe the times I have been in the chatroom, someone asks "everyone" a question, and (the questioner being male or female) even if I say the same thing, they will look to the male who is answering it, and I will be ignored, lol...so now, I don't bother helping out.  | |

Not me, LaV! Remember when I asked about my computer prob, and you, sag and ian all came on? I responded to all of you...and I took it in to the Gateway Service Shop. It was the motherboard, btw, for the second time in a couple of years. I need to turn it off when it's not in use, it heats up too much, apparently. I just got it back tonight, and the screen is still a bit dark. I'll mess with the controls, and if it's still not better, I'll look into other options.
