That's what I wondered, too. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

Folk who are too dumb to actually realize that they are dumb seem the happiest in the world.
That's what I wanna be. |

Smart and sad because if you're smart, you can learn new things that might make you happier, but chances are, if you're dumb, you'll be that way for life. Not to mention being happy all the damn time is overrated and annoying.

Good point!
Nothing worse than the dumb and homely (gal or dude). Perhaps we could have a "dumb" wing at the Home For Homely Bitches. We could discount them or something. |

No, intelligence doesn't ONLY magnify melancholy...but you need intelligence to even comprehend the concept. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory! |

this was the basis of the movie Charly, which was based on the book flowers for algenon. Someone who was blissful and dumb was given intelligence temporarily. |

Oh, pardon me. Dumb people are too dumb to know they're in a state of "prolonged gloominess."
I think most people have the smarts to figure out whether their life sucks or not. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |
