When Sony Corp decided to completely overhaul the franchise, the studio dumped the cast and the director Sam Raimi altogether. That's showbiz!

It sucked becasue of Sony insisting that Raimi put Venom in it. Originally he did not want to. The movie would have probably been just fine if they just left him alone and let the man work.

I was hoping to see MJ killed off sad I also found most of Aunt May's dialogue and acting to be a cringefest.

Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

After Spidey 3, this is a welcome change. I did like Tobey as Spiderman and Raimi's direction in the first two films. However, 5 years is much too soon for a reboot.

I am glad the old crew did there thing and they are OUT. I am looking forward to the reboot. Franky I always find the origins much more entertaining than the ongoing stories.

Just waiting to see if they completely DESTROY any remnants of my childhood love for comic books with this movie and the upcoming THOR and Captain America flicks.

I think everyone is going to be pleasantly surprised with this one.

Thor and Cap look like garbage.

I'm still holding out some hope for Thor (in spite of the subpar visuals to date).

But Chris Evans as Captain America is a tough pill to swallow.

Judging by the pic above, they seem to have gone back to the "traditional" spider web shooting out of a selfmade webshooter from the wrist rather than those "supernatural" spider webs in Sam Raimi´s films. That was one of the few things were I thought Sam Raimi and his crew had taken too many liberties instead of just staying true to the original comic book webshooters which were built by Peter Parker and made much more sense than the web shooting out of Toby Maguire´s skin.

YES!!! I noticed that as well. That was a major issue I had with the Raimi films.

Yeah, I read somewhere that they were going back to the webshooters. I hope they make a "Thwip!" sound effect for them.

The spider webs that shot out of Peter Parker in the other movies always grossed me out.

the idea for organic webs came from the comics. (well sort of: when spiderman got his black suite (secret wars 11 or 12??) they made their own webs. Later the suite would take on a life of its own)

I know, I´m very familiar with the Secret Wars series but at least that idea made some sense, considering that the black costume was an alien. But it made absolutely no sense when Peter Parker all of a sudden started shooting webs from his wrist without that alien symbiont costume.
