In more Eddie Long Dong news...

Did someone post this? He encouraged his church members to invest with a man he brought into the church. Some members lost their life savings. Totaling one million lost over several members.

He's also in mediation and talks with his accusers as well.

the title of this thread! lol

on a serious note:

It is shameful that people who are trusted so openly are not so easily held in account for the actions they take that tear down many good families.

I left my church because my pastor favored the formally educated light skinned blacks in the church, the others were only good for their tithes. Never looked back, and I am happier now because of it.

In a somewhat unrelated story, two bodies were discovered at the church. It was unrelated to the church, but it appears as if they were murdered and disposed of at the church.

Will have to find the story. Here in ATL he stays in the news. I figured Graycap may have posted some stories too.

A woman invested 125k. Her life's savings. But I know I've read in the bible to not put all faith into a man. Not even your pastor. Really sad.

I think so. He obviously thought he stood to make some $$$ off of his patrons if they invested with this guy. He really did mislead them in favor of his own gain.

Chile, you sure have: it's all over the place in the text; Acts 20:29, Matthew 7:15, Jeremiah 23:16, Romans 16:17, Mark 13:22, and the list goes on and on. As devout as I am (believe it or not, I really do spend a lot of time entrenched in the word and trying to be a better person than I appear), I have never been too hemmed in that I'm afraid of giving the church and men/women of the cloth the side eye (in their face) when they behave as if they are exempt from daily dosages of "ackrite" that apply to the rest of us.

This dude reeks straight-up crook a lá Bernie Madolf. I'm not interested in most of the large mega-eveangelists, because they turn me off with their whole Vegas style of bringing the Word to the people. They are light on Bible teaching and heavy on showmanship and $100 seeds. Additionally, they usually have no sense of humility about them whatsoever, watching them just becomes too hard for me to stomach as everything they do never really seems to reflect the nature of Christ, it's almost like they do and preach EVERYTHING which is complete opposite to what he said in Scripture, outside of taking communion confused . I see the Eddie Dongs, Benny Hinns, and Phropetess who-so other (that one that claims she was beat up by her husband, Phrophetess Bynum?) and just shake my head...and keep it moving bored2

spit Really??? So "God" is telling people to invest in illegal gambling?

Last year, after Ephren Taylor made his financial presentation at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, parishioners began investing with Taylor in his new idea: sweepstakes video game machines.

Now, some of those investors fear they may have lost their money. Instead of making big profits, they found that Ephren Taylor's company that sold them the sweepstakes game machines has been indicted for operating a gambling enterprise.

"I'm not mad at Bishop long, but I do wish church maybe had did more follow up as well,” said Bailey.

I just can't feel sorry for these people. disbelief

It is sad. And people are still ride or die for this guy. Eddie Long's church is the church of ATL's to be seen crowd. I think some of them maybe feel they have so much invested in being at the popular church, there's no turning back. But I could just be speculating.

Being privy the inner workings of church politics and hierarchy, I would say that you really do have a valid point there. When I first joined the church I attend now the congregation had folks with that mindset; and I wasn't interested in hanging out with them either. I have some kind of radar for BS like that, my general policy is that you need to be authentically secure in your faith in the Father and Son, not four walls where we sit, or the man on the stage, or the clique of the moment. All of that crap can fall away in a second. People over at Eddie's place need to learn that they are ridin' & dyin' for the wrong dude, wrong agenda. hrmph

OK, so I was incorrect. Not a dead body, but someone found critically injured at Eddie Long's Church. A lot of negative energy swirling around...

http://www.ajc.com/news/d...29281.html

Feb 06, 2011. A man is in critical condition after being found shot in the parking lot of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, DeKalb police said.

Police received the call at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said.

There is no suspect or motive, and the shooting is not connected to the Lithonia church, she said.

Detectives believe the shooting took place in the parking lot.

And politicians would agree, this is were many candidates hang out looking to gain the "black" votes. One thumbs up from a bishop is all they need to get elected and you will never see or hear of these politicians again. Especially if they are from an entirely different community and want no connection to the black community as a whole.
