Oh! My Aching Feets!

I messed up big time, y'all. I had surgery on my two baby toes Tuesday. We're talking BOTH feet, folks. Why'd the hell I do that???? I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Well, I certainly did. Fucked myself up big time! I had corns on both baby toes that were killing me. I had only a few pairs of shoes out of hundreds that I could wear comfortably. My podiatrist guaranteed that it I had the surgery, I would no longer be bothered with corns. He said, I'd be back to wearing shoes comfortably in about 3 weeks. Well, I'm a little concerned because after the surgery, it felt like he had taken a sledge hammer to my feet! JEEZUS, the PAIN!!! He gave me a script for Tylenol #3. I took one, and all it did was get me high and put me to sleep, but the pain was still there. I had to double up on the Tylenol and chase it with a joint to get any relief. I should have done just one foot so I wouldn't be hobbling around like an old woman with a rod stuck up the ass. So, if any of you need this type of surgery, do one foot at a time!

Aw dayum gurl! I can only imagine what you're going through. What about soaking them? Maybe that will help.

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

I wish! I can't get my feet wet yet. They're both bandaged up and do. He gave me those boots to wear. You know those blue fabric and Velcro shoes that make you look like friggin Frankenstien? I gotta wear BOTH them ugly muhfugs! mad

You're a prince, hon! hug I think I'll be ok. Each day gets better. I can even walk a little bit without the Frankensten boots. Just can't wear regular shoes yet. I go back to see the doc on Tuesday and hopefully to work on Wednesday.

I can totally empathize. Several years ago, I had surgery done on both my feet at the same time (hammer toes). When this is all done, you'll be SO glad you got it all over with at once.

But seriously, WTF with the Tylenol? That is no good. Not in this day and age of several lovely painkillers. The first five days after my surgery was a blur of painkillers and drifting in and out to watch bad TV. It was nice.

The second week, I felt much better, so I'd pop a painkiller, drink a glass of wine, and drift off into the most blissful sleep of my life. Absolutely wonderful.

Anyway, hope you're feeling better soon! Take care of yourself!

Yeah, I thought Tylenol was kind of "old school," but that's the strongest I've ever been perscribed for pain. When I take 2, I do get that "in and out" feeling, almost catatonic. lol

I hope you feel better wink I had surgery on one foot about three years ago and it hurt like hell so there's no way I'd let some one cut on both feet at the same time. I really need back surgery too, but I think I rather manage the pain and live with it than have surgery. Your feet and your back are precious-take care of em wink

Apart from the drugs it sounds like a shitty way to spend a weekend. Glad you're on the mend.

You can't take extra strength Excederin? That will numb you from the eyebrows down and I am a fan of percocet. When I had my surgery I loved the percs.

hug Speedy recovery to you!

Feel better, T! hug

I know about foot pain...

I agree with Painted... percocet would have been a way to go. Hell, they gave me that when I had the kidney stone procedure last week. lurking

Hope the pain subsides soon!

Don't feel bad for messing up, the only reason why I would even know not to get both feet done is because I heard it on Wendy Williams 3 years ago! She bitched and moaned on the radio for days; but I would imagine if folks weren't listeners or didn't catch her show that particular week, there haven't been too many folks with good advice tips to the general public about corn removal lol . I reckon I would have tried to kill two birds with one stone, too! hug

Thanks, everyone for your well wishes. I do feel 100% better today. The pain has almost subsided completely. I'm still taking the Tylenol which takes off any remnants of residual pain. I am walking almost normally now, but I haven't tried to put on shoes yet; still a little "tender."

I can't take Percocet. I was given that years ago and it made me vomit violently. Doc told me I could take ibuprofen to control any swelling. What I'm missing most is being able to shower. I'm not supposed to get my feet wet until after I see doc on Tuesday. I've had to resort to "ho's" baths. sad

biggrin Yeah, that was the worst part for me too. I think I couldn't get my feet wet for almost two weeks with my surgery. So gross.

Glad to hear you're feeling better! I've never had corns, but my mom and sister have, and they've made it clear they're no joke. Severe foot pain is one of those things (like back pain) where unless you're really had it, you don't know how bad it can be. Glad you're on the mend!

hug Yep! I was even able to do some light house cleaning yesterday. Now I'm eying this 3 foot mound of snow in my parking space in front of my house. It's been there for the last 3 weeks, and I'm freakin sick of it! I swear, if it warms up a little more, I'll be out there with my snow shovel! Being holed up in bed for a week is started to get me a little stir crazy. nuts
