I've been using clippers to shave my head for more than a decade now. When I don't care what people think I tend to go guardless. When I do care I use a #2 guard (I always forget what length that is). Personally, I look "harder" when I go shorter and a bit softer when I leave a little length.
I tried going down to the skin with a razer when I first started, but it was a HUGE hassle and I didn't like how I looked. I'm not going bald, though, I just got tired of the endless bad haircuts.
You'll just have to do some trial and error and see how things turn out for you. Like, I gotta say, it honestly took a couple years of holding a mirror and looking over my shoulder to get the neck hairs off and get a good line on the back of my head. Now I can do it with my eyes closed.
Other than that I recommend finding a good old school barber. It's inexpensive to have them use the clippers and clean up the edges. And if you want it down to the skin they're usually really good AND fast with the razors. | |
